Services for J. Carlton Rathmel, 80, Kremlin, will be 2 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Henninger – Allen Funeral Home with Paul J. Enabnit Sr., minister of Davis Park Christian Church, officiating. Masonic graveside services and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Rathmel died Friday, May 23, 1986 in an Enid hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born June 16, 1905, in Kremlin to Henry and Delphia Rathmel.

He graduated from Enid high school in 1924. He farmed before attending Southwestern State College in Weatherford for two years. He was postmaster at Kremlin and later served as a rural mail carrier.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, including tours in North Africa and Italy.

He was a member of the Kremlin Christian Church and the Davis Park Christian Church.

He was a member of the Garfield County Senior Citizens Center, Masonic Lodge No. 353 of Kremlin, the Order of Eastern Star No. 208, Kremlin, the American Legion, the American Association of Retired Persons and NARF.

Survivors include his twin sister, Carolyn Rathmel of Kremlin; and a brother, H. Marion, Wichita, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to the Kremlin Ambulance Service and the Kremlin Eastern Star No. 208.
