Funeral services for Leslie and Larry Owens, who were shot and killed Wednesday in Houston, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Central Christian Church. Rev. Lloyd Lambert will officiate and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established at the church. Contributions can be made in the church or at Ladusau Evans Funeral Home.

Larry and Leslie were born Sept. 30, 1952, in Enid. They are survived by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Owens,; a brother, Jim, also of Enid; a sister, Mrs. Don Johndrow of Fayetteville, Ark., and a paternal grandmother.

The 18 year old twins , former students and former electrical engineering sophomores, were on National Merit Scholarships at Rice University until they withdrew to work on a nuclear physics project.

Their bodies were found northwest of Houston, at nearby Walker County, shortly before dawn Thursday in a wooded area.

A former mental patient was charged Thursday with the slaying , Herman Baersdorf, 22 of Dallas was charged with shooting the youths.

The twin's brother, Jim, said late Thursday, the boys "had broken with Baersdorf over the project, they did not want to work with him any more, but wanted to complete it.

Owens said his brothers had withdrawn from Rice to work on the project. They had contacted persons in various cities and had talked with their professors at Rice before starting it and planned to reenter college next fall.
