August 6, 1928 - June 15, 2020

Effie G. Outhier passed away in her Enid, Oklahoma, home on June 15, 2020, at age 91.

Effie was born August 6, 1928, in Enid to George and Helen (Kanellakos) Hronopulos. After graduating with the Enid High School Class of 1946, Effie attended Phillips University. On July 31, 1949, she married Paul J Outhier at her parents' Enid home.

Family and friends remember her as bright, outgoing, supportive, and endlessly inquisitive. An avid reader, she loved immersing herself in novels - the longer, the better. She had a deep appreciation for the arts, especially music, and religiously attended Enid Symphony Orchestra performances. Always eager to expand her knowledge, she regularly participated in Lifelong Learning and Chautauqua in the Park. Effie was a member of Enid's First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by husband, Paul; her parents; twin sister, Audie (Mrs. Tasso) Pitsiri; sister, Grace (Mrs. Jack) Davis; sister, Martha (Mrs. Bob) Johnson; sister, Sodie (Mrs. Frank) Swinehart; brother, Pete Hronopulos; daughter-in-law, Carol (Mrs. Steve) Outhier; and daughter-in-law Linda (Mrs. Rick Outhier) Stillions.

Effie is survived by son, Steve Outhier of Stillwater; son, Rick Outhier of Southwest City, MO; daughter, Melanie Outhier of Enid; son, Phil Outhier and wife, Linda of Enid; beloved grandchildren, Jay Outhier, Drew Outhier and wife, Ali, and Emily Outhier; and brother, John Hronopulos and wife, Betty of Edmond. Part of a large and loving extended family, she also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be given to Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center (Chautauqua), the Enid Symphony Association or the charity of one's choice with Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.

A private family service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Susan Southall will officiate. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Viewing will be 8am-1pm Friday, June 19, 2020, at the funeral home.
