Funeral services for Ernest "Ernie" O' Neal Jr., age 50, of Wichita, formerly of Enid, will be 10 AM Monday, April 22, 2002, in the Ladusau - Evans Chapel. Deacon Tony Crispo will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.

Ernie was born January 3, 1952, at the Coronado Naval Air Station of San Diego, California to Ernest Sr. and Paulene Franks O'Neal and died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, in Wichita, Kansas.

Ernie lived in Enid most of his life. He was a graduate of Enid High School in 1971. Ernie attended Autry Vo – Tech to become an aircraft mechanic.

He married Debra Bunch on July 20, 1973, in Enid at Davis Park Christian Church.

Ernie joined the U. S. Navy in 1974 and served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) 4 1/2 years as a third class petty officer. He later joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard and retired as a Lieutenant serving 23 years.

He worked for Northrup at Vance Air Force Base from 1971 to 1974. After his discharge from the Navy, returned to Northrup until January 2001. Ernie went to work for Cessna Aircraft of Wichita, Kansas in February 2001 as an aircraft mechanic until his death.

He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union, #744 in Wichita and the local union in Enid.
