Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for Tommy G. Niles, 83, of Enid, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Wade Burleson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. today, May 26, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Tommy was born Jan. 16, 1932, in Cherokee, Okla., the son of Bonney Edgar and Gertrude Devall Niles and passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Enid Senior Care.

He was raised in Hillsdale, Okla., and graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1949. He received his teaching degree from Northwestern State College in 1953, where he played basketball and served as senior class president. He received his master’s in education in 1956. Tommy also received an Administrative Certificate from OSU.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Anne Crider on March 23, 1952. She preceded him in death on Oct. 4, 1994.

On Sept. 28, 1996, he was united in marriage to Jolene Mowbray Dorsett.

His teaching career started in Climax, Kan., then on to Burlington, Okla., where he taught for three years and then moved to Enid, where he taught mechanical drawing at Enid High School, served as assistant football and basketball coach, later becoming assistant principal.

Tommy became principal of Alva High School in 1973 and then, in 1979, moved back to Enid, teaching at Enid High, Autry Vo-Tech, where he taught drafting. He then served as attendance officer at Enid High School for several years. He retired in 1994 after 41 years in teaching.

He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandpa and brother.

Survivors include his wife, Jolene; son, Rick Niles and wife Dorothy of Edmond, Okla.; daughter, Pam Bolin of Enid; six grandchildren, Keith, Erin, Brooke, Isaac, Connor and Kieran; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob Niles and wife Jane Ann of Enid; a sister, Darlene Eckstein and husband Ted of Enid; and daughter-in-law, Lintha Niles of Enid.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clifford; a brother, Bruce; and a stepson, Sam Dorsett.

Memorial contributions may be made to OMRF, cancer division, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
