John H. Mangus
February 18, 1910 ~ May 30, 1970


John H. Mangus, 60, died in a local hospital early Saturday evening, May 30, 1970 following a short illness.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 4 PM in the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev Howard Snell officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral home.

He was born February 19, 1910 in the Ardmore area where he grew up.

He attended schools in Madill, then moved to Cordell as a young man where he met and later married Ida Huey on October 5, 1926.

They made their home at Cordell until moving to a farm near Seiling in 1940. They moved to Enid in 1946 and have made their home here since that time.

Mr Mangus did some farming in the Enid area, and had been employed by the Union Equity Co-Op. He attended the Assembly of God Church here.

Survivors include his wife, Ida, of the home North of Enid; four sons, Lloyd and Wayne, both of Enid, Archie of Norman and Orville of Oklahoma City; five daughters, Mrs Cleveland [Laoma] Cavin of Oklahoma City, Mrs Curtis [Leona] Webster of Tulsa, Mrs Jack [Bessie] Franklin of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs Fred [Dorothy] Osborn of Del City, and Mrs Jerry [Carolyn] Eggelston of Enid; two brothers, Owen of Pampa, Texas, and Claude of Odessa, Texas; five sisters, Mrs Belle Smith, Mrs Curtis [Lena] Smith, Mrs Thelbert [Mary] Record and Mrs Ivan [Bessie] Ward, all of Seiling, and Mrs George [Bertha] McKinnis of Peell, Washington; and 21 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and a brother.
