Virginia M. Wofford Lee Enid, OK — The graveside service for Virginia M. Wofford Lee, 86, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
She was born Aug. 22, 1921, in Sapulpa to Charles and Mamie Lockhart-Wilson and died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008.
The family moved to Enid in 1925 where she attended school. She later moved to Oklahoma City where she graduated from beauty college.
She married O.B. Wofford in 1940, in Enid. They moved to Kremlin. She worked for Beetches Beauty Salon in Enid and later established her own salon in Kremlin.
In 1960, she married Archie Lee. They made their home in Enid where she owned and operated seven beauty salons, including Suburban Salon of Beauty for 12 years and Hair Fashion Showroom for 15 years. She retired and sold her Wig Hair Fashion Showroom on North Independence, later owning it again, retiring in 2007, after 61 years of beauty work.
She was active in the Enid Cosmetology Association, Enid Toastmistress Club and the Kremlin Methodist Church. She was Worthy Matron of Enid Chapter Order of Eastern Star in 1968 and 1983. She also was past Worthy High Priestess of White Shrine of Jerusalem and past president of Beauceants.
She married Olin Whitman in 1993. They spent winters in San Bento, Texas. He died in 2000.
Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Franklin of Tulsa; one son, Errol Wofford of Enid; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to three husbands, O.B., Archie and Olin, she was preceded in death by one son and a sister.
