Anna Katherine [Winkleman] Kuzel

Mrs. J. H. [Anna Katherine] Kuzel, 93, died in an El Cajon, California, nursing home Tuesday afternoon, following a period of ill health.

She was born May 11, 1883, in Illinois and came to Oklahoma with her parents who made the run into the Cherokee Strip, settling on a homestead between Medford and Blackwell.

The former Anna Katherine Winkleman, she married Joseph Kuzel in 1906. He died in October 1961. She and her husband owned and operated mercantile stores in northern Oklahoma and Kansas.

She was a member of the Catholic Church in San Diego.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs Frank A. Hein of La Mesa, California; two sons, Howard W. Kuzel, El Cajon, and Dr Leroy J. Kuzel of Enid; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

A Bible Wake service will be read at 7:30 PM Friday in the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be at 10 AM Saturday in Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
