© Enid Morning News Enid, Oklahoma February 1977 December 11, 1888 ~ 1977 Lahoma – Service for Henry Kuhnemund, 88, who died in an Enid hospital early today of an apparent heart attack, will be Sunday at 2:30 PM in the Enid Central Christian Church with the Rev Lloyd H. Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Kuhnemund was born December 11, 1888, at Davenport, Nebraska. He was reared in Rock County, near Bassett, Nebraska. As a young man, he came to a farm his parents owned, 2 miles west and 2 miles north of Lahoma, on March 10, 1910. He married Ethel Freeburg March 7, 1920, in the Lahoma Christian Church. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in East of Lahoma March 1970. Kuhnemund had been an active farmer and stockman, retiring in 1968 due to ill health. He was a member of the Central Christian Church of Enid, American Legion and Masonic Lodge No. 501. A veteran of World War I, he served in St Nihill and Argon Forest of France. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Don [Annabel] Thieme, 19 Woodlands, and Mrs Don L. [Emaline] Nixon, Coronado, California; three grandson; three granddaughters; one great – grandchild; one brother, Ernest, Tulsa, and two sisters, Mrs Mary Nolting, Lahoma, and Mrs Clara Poppe, Chester, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, December 12, 1973, two brothers and one sister. A memorial fund has been established at the Central Christian Church of Enid with the church with the funeral home serving as custodian. |
© Enid Morning News Enid, Oklahoma December 1973 March 12, 1895 ~ December 12, 1973 Mrs Henry [Ethel] Kuhnemund, Lahoma, died late Wednesday evening in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born March 12, 1895, in Springfield, Illinois, and moved with her parents to a farm northwest of Drummond in 1900. Mrs Kuhnemund attended the Silverlake rural school and Lahoma schools. On March 7, 1920, she married Henry Kuhnemund in the Lahoma Christian Church. In March of 1970 they celebrated their golden anniversary at their home east of Lahoma. She was an active member of the Central Christian Church of Enid and a member of the Philathian Sunday school class and class pianist. She was also a member of Chapter 36, Order of Eastern Star, and had received a 40 year pin from the Federated Farm Women's Club. Survivors include her husband, Henry, of the home; two daughters, Mrs Don [Annabell] Thieme of Enid, Mrs Don L. [Emaline] Nixon of San Diego, Calif.; three grandsons and three granddaughters. Funeral services will be Saturday day at 10 a.m. in the Central Christian Church with the Rev Lloyd H. Lambert and Dr Fred Craddock officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established at Central Christian Church in memory of Mrs Kuhnemund. The church and the funeral home will act as custodians of this fund. |
