Eva Gene was born to John Elmer and Zona Gourley Henricks on November 1, 1926, in Woods County, Oklahoma and died on April 28, 2020 in Enid, Oklahoma. Eva Gene grew up in Woods County. On February 3, 1948, she married John Kretchmar. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She is survived by one sister, Vandola Mitchell of Bristol, Tennessee; one niece, Brenda Cook; great nieces, Allison Cook, Connie Horener, Christina Benavidez; great nephews, Matthew Cook, John Bailey, Paul Bailey II; and great, great nephew Quinn Cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kretchmar; her sister, Vyn Ella Best; and her nephew, Paul Bailey. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma December 8, 2014 October 4, 1927 ~ December 5, 2014 Mass of Christian burial for Norma Louise Kretchmar, 87 year old Enid resident, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Father Carson Krittenbrink will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Norma Louise (Cockrell) Kretchmar was born October 4, 1927, to Dennis Flynn and Edna Fae [Walton] Cockrell and passed from this life December 5, 2014, in Enid, Okla., at age 87. In 1945, Norma graduated from Enid High School. On Aug. 4, 1948, she married Clifford Kretchmar of Medford, Okla. To this union, two children were born: Monte on June 23, 1952, and Jody on January 10, 1956. She worked for her brother-in-law, Joe Kretchmar Jr at K and K Lumber Company until 1969, when she became a deputy at Grant County Treasurer's office, retiring in 1978. After a few years of retirement, she started volunteering at Grant County Soil Conservation Office in Medford and received the State Volunteer of the Year Appreciation Award for volunteering the most hours in the state. Norma enjoyed her family, activities of her children and grandchildren, and her work. She also enjoyed going dancing and traveling with her husband after their retirement. Her children and grandchildren were her entire world. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, and loved being around people. She was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Medford, St. Mary’s Alter Society and Madonna Mothers Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Edna Cockrell; her husband of 52 years, Clifford Kretchmar; son, Monte Kretchmar; sisters, Waunetta Hisey and Wanda Barnett; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Norma leaves daughter Jody Whitehead; grandchildren, Troy Whitehead, Lacy Greenfield and husband Cody, Tyler Whitehead, Kala Phillips and husband Devin; great-grandson, Landon Phillips; as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorials in her name can be given to St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Enid, or St Mary’s Catholic Church, Medford, with Henninger-Hinson as custodian of funds. Kretchmar, 64, of Enid, formerly of Medford, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, at St Mary Catholic Church, Medford. The Rev Mike Wheelahan will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hills-Ely Funeral Home, Medford. He was born February 25, 1942, in Enid to Bernard and Betty Keller Kretchmar and died Saturday, April 15, 2006, in Enid. He attended Jefferson school, graduating in 1960. He moved to Wichita, Kansas, attended technical school and worked at Beech Aircraft. He returned to Medford in 1962 and began farming and custom harvesting. He married Karen Kent October 5, 1963. They made their home on a farm near Medford. Following his retirement, they moved to Enid in July 2003. Surviving are his wife, Karen, of Enid; children, Lynn Kretchmar of Enid, Robin Monogue of Missoula, Mont., and David Kretchmar of Indianola, Iowa; his mother, Betty Kretchmar of Enid; siblings, Peggy Reeser of Ketchum, Danny and Randy Kretchmar, both of Medford, and Debby Harwood of Tulsa; and nine grandchildren. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, cancer division. |

Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Karen Kretchmar of Enid, OK, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023. She was born to Merritt and Hettie Kent on August 16, 1942, in Enid, OK. She married Bernie Kretchmar on October 5, 1963. Karen was known for her quick wit, delicious homemade meals, and ability to make a friend of anyone she met. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie, her daughter, Robin and a sister Connie Bergman. Survivors include her sons, Lynn Kretchmar and David (Rene) Kretchmar, and her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A private viewing will be held at Anderson & Burris Funeral Home of Enid, OK. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to RSVP or Bennie's Barn as these were close to Karen's heart. |
