© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma January 13, 2017 August 11, 1931 ~ January 9, 2017 The funeral for Garry K. Kirk is 11 a.m. today, Jan. 13, 2017, in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Gary Miller will officiate. Burial follows in Memorial Park Cemetery. Garry was born August 11, 1931, in Kellyville, to Clifford and Pearl [Dotson] Kirk, and passed away Monday, Janiuary 9, 2017, in his home in Enid. He attended Hominy schools, graduating with the class of 1949. On June 29, 1962, he married Jane Cresswell and the couple made their home in Enid. Gary worked as a survey engineer with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. He retired May 30, 1986, after more than 35 years of service. Garry was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Bowling Congress. He and his wife Jane loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas. He is survived by his son, Cliff Kirk and wife, Elaine, of Frisco, Texas, daughter, Sonya Wood and husband, David, of LaCenter, Wash., six grandchildren, Kayla, Cortney, and Kristen Kirk and Michael, Christopher, and Alisha Wood, and one sister, Jean Kern of Stockton, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jane, two brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to OMRF, Heart Division. © Anderson~Burris Funeral Home Enid, Oklahoma October 2016 September 11, 1938 ~ October 20, 2016 A Celebration of Life Service for Tom Kirk, age 78, will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Pastor Wade Burleson and Chaplain Bill King officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Tom was born to Fred and Ethel [Hopkins] Kirk on September 11, 1938, in Oklahoma City, and passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016, in Oklahoma City. Tom grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School. He attended O.S.U and Central State University. On December 29, 1959, Tom married Grace Snodgrass in Oklahoma City. They moved to Enid in 1966, where Tom went to work as librarian for Vance Air Force Base. He worked there for 37 years before retirement. Tom was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a volunteer at St Mary’s. He was “Papa T” to his bonus family, Rebecca and Mary. Tom enjoyed camping in his RV, his koi pond, and his pets, Angel and Aby. He was known for his sense of humor and enjoyed being with people. He is survived by his wife Grace; brother Robert Kirk and wife Vicki of Hesperia, California, and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his son Randy and daughter Brenda. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma February 25, 2022 April 18, 1938 ~ February 20, 2022 Grace passed away peacefully on February 20, 2022. She was born to Jim S. Snodgrass and Lena White Snodgrass in Dimmitt, TX. As a small child her family moved to Oklahoma, ultimately settling near the Ringling, OK, area. Grace graduated from Rexroat High School then attended Central State in Edmond, OK, obtaining a degree in Business Administration. Grace retired from the Enid Board of Education, serving as Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools before her retirement. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Kirk; son, Randal Kirk; daughter, Brenda Kirk; sisters, Mildred Watkins, Evelyn Watkins; brothers, Wilburn (Bud) Watkins and Jimmy Dale Snodgrass; two great-nephews, Derrick Snodgrass and Cody Dean Snodgrass. Grace is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins whom she loved dearly. Grace was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church until her health began to fail her [2016-2020]. She then attended a small "Cowboy" church in Lahoma, OK, with her friends who would pick her up from home and take her. Grace loved quilting, needle point, crocheting and knitting. She enjoyed camping with her family during summer vacations and family reunions. Grace was one of the founders of a group called Compassionate Quilters, receiving grants to buy supplies to make quilts for those needing a little warmth. She moved to Healdton, OK, in 2020 in hope of reacquainting herself with former classmates and friends. Due to her continued failing health she chose to relocate to Baptist Village in Oklahoma City until her death. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday, February 26th, at Buchanan Funeral Service. A celebration of Grace's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 26th, at Buchanan Funeral Service in Oklahoma City, followed by burial at 1:30 p.m. at Enid Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on 2022-02-26 at Buchanan Funeral Service, 8712 North Council Road, Oklahoma City, OK, USA. |
