Celebration of life and Remembrance for Lawrence Johnson, 87, of Enid, Okla., is 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Alan Seibel and the Rev. Gary Lillie officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today, Feb. 12, at the funeral home.

Lawrence passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, in Enid. He was born Feb. 2, 1928, to Ira O. Johnson and Lenore (Hardy) Johnson, on the original Johnson family homestead in the Hunter-Kremlin area.

Lawrence was a graduate of Kremlin High School, then shortly after served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He married Sarah Louise Newberry and they made their home and raised two children on the family farm.

He was active in the community, serving on the Farmers Co-op Board and the Lions Club. He was a deacon and an elder at Davis Park Christian Church in Enid.

Later in life, he and Sarah made their home at Golden Oaks Retirement Village. He enjoyed helping other residents getting to and from doctor appointments and volunteering his time. His greatest joys were his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them, and he will be missed.

He is survived by his children: daughter, Cathy Kever and husband Wayne of Fort Collins, Colo., and son, Eldon Johnson and wife Tanya of Perry, Okla.; five grandchildren, Justin Kever and wife Larissa Armand of Broomfield, Colo., Ethan Kever of Fort Collins, Colo., and Brekyn, Jordan and Devan Johnson of Perry, Okla.; brother, Walter Johnson and wife Lorene of Breckinridge, Okla.; sisters, Velma Schultz of North Enid, and Evelyn DeBoard and husband Bob of Allen, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah; his parents; brother, Alvin Johnson; and sister, Bernice Buss.

Memorials may be made to Oakwood Christian Church, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
