Harvey R. Johnson was born May 10, 1931, in Felt, Okla., to J.I. and Margaret (Reimer) Johnson and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, after a brief illness. Harvey was raised in Corn, Okla., and graduated from Corn Bible Academy in Corn, Okla. He attended Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan., and Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla., followed by two years of service in the U.S. Army. He then returned to graduate from SWOSU with a B.S. degree in biology.

He married the love of his life, Betty Ann Nusz, on Aug. 12, 1954, in Enid, Okla. Harvey trained as a medical technologist at the Department of Health in Kansas City, Mo., and returned to Enid, Okla., to begin his career in the laboratory at St. Mary’s Hospital. He later became the manager at NW Oklahoma Pathologists and retired from GlaxoSmithKline in 1996. He spent 45 years as a medical technologist and was well respected in his field and known to many for his gentleness and kindness. Harvey trusted Christ as his Savior at a young age and was baptized in a pond near Corn Mennonite Brethren Church, with a group of 50 people. After moving to Enid, he became a member of Enid Mennonite Brethren Church. He was currently an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Sojourners Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his wife of 581?2 years, Betty Ann; son, Philip Johnson and wife Patti of Marietta, Ga.; daughter, Seena Erickson and husband Dan of Bonaire, Ga.; grandchildren, Andrew Johnson of Woodward, Okla., Peter Johnson of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Elizabeth Johnson of Marietta, Ga., Tyler Erickson of Savannah, Ga., Jillian Erickson of Athens, Ga., Cassidy Erickson of Bonaire, Ga.; and one sister, Velma Hoock of Corn, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin Johnson; and one infant brother, Jacob Johnson.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Pastor Wade Burleson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. today at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
