January 16, 1944 - August 16, 2018

A celebration of life service for Helen V. Johnson, age 74, of Enid, is 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Burial follows in Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Ladusau-Evans. Visitation with the family is from 6-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Helen was born in Independent Hill, Virginia, on January 16, 1944, to Lawrence Everett Runion and Mildred Ida Runion. She grew up in Virginia, living around all her family until she married Walter Chase in 1961, and they had three daughters. Being a military family, they lived in many places. Ultimately, the Air Force brought them to Enid in 1974. On December 31, 1977, she married Harold Dwane Johnson and gained two sons.

Helen loved spending time with her family, reading, watching cooking shows and going to the casino. She and Harold loved OU football and they went all decked out to the games until her health prevented it. Helen would do anything in her power to help anybody, all you had to do was ask. She was the queen of making deviled eggs, homemade macaroni and cheese and hashbrown casserole.

Helen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Harold; her children Cheri Alvarez, Christi (Greg) Kuykendall, Chris (Sheryl) Johnson, Bryan (Arisbeth) Johnson, and Dawn (Mark) Parker together with their children, blessing Helen with 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also, her sister, Judy Catherine Runion of Florida; brother, Lawrence Runion, Jr., of Florida; brother-in-law, Ralph George of Virginia; brother-in-law, Gary Johnson of Tulsa; sister-in-law, Gloria (Bill) Ryan of Wichita; sister-in-law Joan Johnson of Texas and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister, two great-grandchildren, her mother-in-law, and a brother-in-law.

The family will all miss Helen - our love, wife, Mom, Grandma, Gigi and friend. Her smile will live on in our hearts.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Lupus/Rheumatoid Arthritis/Diabetes divisions with Ladusau-Evans as custodian of the funds. Condolences may be made online and the service may be viewed at www.LadusauEvans.com.
