L. A. (Alva) Jessee, 93, former state representative and real estate insurance man, died Friday afternoon in his home at 628 E. Broadway.

His funeral rites will be at 3 PM Sunday in the Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home. Reverend Lloyd Lambert will officiate and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jessee was born in Linn County, Missouri, May 13, 1878, and came with his parents to Woodward County in 1899. He filed a claim southwest of Ft. supply and on February 15, 1905 he and Olive Easton were married.

Active in the Democrat party, Jessee served two regular sessions and one special session in the State House of Representatives from Woodward County in the early 1930s. In recognition of his many years of political service, a surprise reception was given for him on his 90th birthday, with several state and nationally known Democratic figures attending, and President Johnson sending a birthday message.
