Burke Jenkins

Burke Jenkins, 59, died in a local hospital after becoming ill at home Sunday afternoon. He had been in failing health the last month.

Born in El Reno, June 10, 1910, he moved with his parents when a child, living in several locations throughout Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas. He married the former Genevieve Webring of Stafford, Kansas, and they established a home in Kansas.

The family moved to Oklahoma settling in Enid in 1948 where he remained until his death. He was a painting contractor.

He was a member of the East Maine Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve, of the home at 2022 E. Pine; one son, Louis Jenkins, Denver, Colorado; three daughters, Mrs. Dianne Mathis, Denver, Mrs. Nancy Larsen, Crane, Indiana, and Miss Annette Jenkins, of the home; one grandchild; a brother, Wesley Jenkins, Enid.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday in the East Maine Church of Christ with Jack Cox and Jack Hendry officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.
