Funeral service for Adolf H. Janzen, 94, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Al McVety officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 5:30-7 p.m. at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Adolf was born to C.K. and Sarah (Heibert) Janzen on June 26, 1918, in Newton, Kan., and passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Golden Oaks in Enid. Adolf’s family lived near Walton, Kan., and included six boys and one girl. He attended rural schools and Walton High School.

Adolf married Alice E. Schmidt on March 31, 1940, in Goessel, Kan. He worked at Boeing in Wichita, then followed his dream of becoming a barber, attending Barber College in Oklahoma City, moving to Enid in 1957. He owned his own barber shop on the east side and retired after nearly 50 years of barbering. Adolf enjoyed his customers, his garden, and sports. He was a member of Cornerstone Evangelical Church in his later years.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of the home; daughter, Judy Janzen of Appleton, Wis.; son, Gary Janzen and wife Lois of Enid; grandson, Eric Janzen and wife Stephanie of Laingsburg, Mich.; granddaughter, Elisa Beshear and husband Andy of Cherryvale, Kan.; two great-grandsons, Ben and Brett Janzen; two great-granddaughters, Bethany and Madelin Beshear; brother, Edwin Janzen and wife Mary Jane of North Newton, Kan.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Adolf was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.
