ENID — Ellen Cecilia Person James was born on a farm southwest of Hillsdale on August 4, 1917, and died June 1, 2011, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was the daughter of Nels and Amanda Person. Her parents moved to Hillsdale in 1922, where she attended school, graduating from high school in 1935. She graduated from Enid Business College in 1937, winning many honors.

She worked as a secretary in Enid for several years. On June 4, 1939, she married Glen M. James, her high school sweetheart. They both worked in Enid for several years, moving back to Hillsdale , in 1943, where Glen managed the Hillsdale Elevator. In 1950, they moved to the James family farm where she resided until moving to a retirement center in Texas in 2005 to be closer to her children. Glen passed away in September 1999. They celebrated their wedding anniversary in June 1999. She was a lifetime member of Hillsdale Bible Church where she held different positions.

She is survived by her children; Roy and wife, Vera, of Lacombe, LA.; Glendene Lavene and husband, Arnold, of Wichita Falls, TX; Carl and wife, Lynn, of South Haven, KS; Bruce and wife, Sharon, of Grand Praire, TX; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lenart, and wife, LaDonna, of Hillsdale , OK.; and one sister, Pauline Millemon, of Lamont, OK.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. June 4, 2011, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Bob Courtney officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hillsdale Christian School, P.O. Box 8, Hillsdale , OK 73743-0008. Condolences may be sent to www.ladusauevans.com.
