ENID — Funeral for James Edward Inman, 70, of Meno, will be 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at Anderson - Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cody Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home .

James was born to William and Gladys (Burdette) Inman on Dec. 20, 1940, in Akron, Ohio, and died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, in Enid.

James grew up in Hawesvilles, Ky., and later attended Murray State University and Brescia College. In 1960 James joined the Air Force. He became a pilot and served three terms in Vietnam.

On Feb. 10, 1975, he married Shirley Spears in Las Vegas, Nev.

James retired June 1, 1981, after 22 years service and resided in Pellville, Ky. He was the director of Hancock County Emergency Management.

James and Shirley were proud foster parents of 40 children for 19 years. James was honored to be selected as a Kentucky Colonel. He was an active member of Pellville First Baptist Church, VFW, American Legion of Owensboro, Ky., and a Mason of Hawsville.

They moved to Meno in 2010, where they attended Faith Center.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, of the home ; four children, Gregg Inman and wife Deanna of Marysville, Tenn., Scott Inman and wife Linda, and Lisa Puckett, all of Owensboro, Ky., and Andy Adkisson and wife Carla of Rhame, N.D.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchilden.

James was preceded in death by two brothers, five sisters, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.
