© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma September 2014 July 5, 1928 ~ September 19, 2014 Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for John Eugene Huckleberry, 86, of Enid, will be 11 am Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at First United Methodist Church. The Rev Susan Southall will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home 6-7 pm Monday. John was born July 5, 1928, in Longdale, OK, the son of Cecil and Helen Long Huckleberry, and passed away September 19, 2014. He was a graduate of Longdale High School, where he played basketball. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean conflict. He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Rankin June 25, 1952, in Fairview, OK. In 1958, they moved to Enid, where he was employed as a sales representative by American Electric Company. He retired in 1996. John was a 56-year member of First United Methodist Church of Enid, where he attended Sooner Sunday School class, and also was an active member of Enid Civitan Club. He was an avid sports fan, especially OU football and basketball and golf. He loved going to sports activities of his children and his grandchildren. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at the farm. He will be remembered as a loving husband and the best daddy and grandfather in the whole world. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Heim and her husband, Lynn, and Carol Clark and her love Mel; six wonderful grandchildren, Kendra, Emily, Katie, Brian, Kayla and Ryan; six dear great grandchildren; and a brother, Jack Huckleberry. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Norma Jean; his parents; a granddaughter, Leslie; and a brother, Lee. © Enid News and Eagle October 21, 2017 August 14, 1929 ~ October 23, 2017 Visitation for family and friends of Jack Huckleberry, 88, of Enid, will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. A private family burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Jack was born August 14, 1929 in the Canton, Oklahoma area, to Cecil and Helen (Long) Huckleberry, and passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Enid. Jack graduated from Longdale High School, and Enid Business College with a degree in accounting. On December 23, 1950 he married Della Jean Howerton, at the Christian Church in Fairview, and they were married for 66 years. Jack joined the United States Army in 1951 and served for 2 years. He worked for Groendyke Transport and retired after 45 years as vice president of operations. Jack was a member of Central Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and treasurer of the Sooner Sunday School Class. Jack is survived by his wife Della; children Sue A. Chael and her husband Lt. Col USAF [Ret.] David T. Chael of Enid, J. Curtis Huckleberry of Enid; grandson Zach Chael and fiancé Ashley Harris of Oklahoma City; step granddaughter Dr. Lauren Chael-Hendrickson, her husband Stephen and their daughters Emily and Bridget of Fishers, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Helen Huckleberry, brothers Gene Huckleberry and Lee Huckleberry. Della graduated from Longdale High School and Enid Business College. On December 23, 1950, she married Jack C. Huckleberry at the Christian Church in Fairview. They were married for 66 years. Della spent her early career as an executive secretary. She then went to work for the First National Bank and retired as a Vice President in 1986. Della was a member of Central Christian Church and served as a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador. Della is survived by her children, Sue A. Chael and J. Curtis Huckleberry of Enid; grandson, Zach and wife Ashley Chael of Edmond; step granddaughter, Dr Lauren Chael-Hendrickson, her husband, Stephen and daughters, Emily, Bridget, and Erin of Fishers, Indiana; sister, JoAnn Palovik of Enid. She was preceded in death by husband, Jack; parents, Noah and Veva Howerton; son-in-law, Lt Col USAF [Ret] David T. Chael. Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Enid A.M. Too Ambucs. © Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Enid, Oklahoma April 2013 OCtober 6, 1934 ~ April 25, 2013 Norma was born October 6, 1934 in Enid to Warren and Rosa Heyen Rankin and passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 in St Mary's Regional Hospital. She was raised in Fairview, OK where she attended and graduated from Fairview High School in 1952. Norma married John Eugene Huckleberry on June 25, 1952 in Fairview. She worked as the Head Teller at Central National Bank for several years. Norma was a very active member of First United Methodist Church, where she helped with funeral dinners, making coffee, and served on the General Circle. She helped with delivering of Meals on Wheels. She was a loving devoted mother and grandmother and was known as the "Core" of the family. Everyone was welcomed in their home. Survivors include her husband John of the home, Nancy and husband Lynn Heim and Carol Clark and Mel Shebester both of Enid, 6 grandchildren; Kendra Laposi, Emily Wyckoff, Katie Marksberry, Kayla Heim, Ryan Heim, Brian Clark and 6 great grandchildren, sister Darlene Hime of Stockton, MO, brother-in-law Jack and Della Huckleberry of Enid and several nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, infant granddaughter Leslie Carol Cormack, and brother-in- law Lee Huckleberry.
