Howerton, 83 year-old Enid resident will be at 11:00 am on Monday, June 30, 2008 at Henninger-Hinson Chapel with Pastor Vanoy Fitch officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Raymond was born on January 9, 1925 in Fairview, Oklahoma the son of Gilbert and Mae [Stearnes] Howerton and died June 26, 2008 at St Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was raised in Fairview and attended school in Longdale. On July 6, 1945 he married Doris R. Schreiner and they made home in Fairview before moving to Enid in 1950. Raymond worked most of his life as a pipeline foreman. Early in his career he worked for K&M Engineering and then for Koch Industries. In 1990 he retired from Koch after 16 years. Raymond enjoyed tinkering and building little things around the house. He loved raising show birds like pigeons, and chickens. He is survived by his wife Doris of the home; four sons, Larry Ray Howerton and his wife Carolyn of Keene, TX; Ronnie Lee Howerton and his wife Claudia of Garber, OK; Kenneth K. Howerton and his wife Rhonda of Carrier, OK; Marion Dale Howerton and his wife Kay of Enid; nine grandchildren, Dwayne Howerton, Katherine Denison, Ryan Howerton, Dawn Bowen, Wesley Howerton, Kendi Taylor, Matthew Nelson, Ashlee Howerton and Jared Howerton; six great grandchildren, Matthew Howerton, Zachary Howerton, Alexander Howerton, Brian Denison, Anna Denison and Joshua Taylor; one sister Ella Boehs of Fairview, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and five brothers. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma August 2016 April 28, 1928 ~ August 14, 2016 The funeral service for Doris Ruth Howerton, 88, is 10 am Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Henninger-Hinson Chapel, with Pastor Vanoy Fitch officiating. Interment follows at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. The service is under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Doris was born April 28, 1928, in Southard, the daughter of Jake and Katie Schreiner, and passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 14, 2016, at Texas Health Hugeley Hospital, Burleson, Texas. She was raised and attended school in Southard, eventually marrying Raymond C. Howerton on July 6, 1945. They made their home in the Fairview area before moving to Enid in 1950. Doris worked most of her life as a cottage supervisor at Enid State School and retired in 1983, after 24 years of service to the State of Oklahoma. Doris enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, flower gardening, and ceramics. In her later years, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and many friends. She is survived by four sons and their spouses: Larry and Carolyn Howerton, Keene, Texas; Ronnie and Claudia Howerton, Garber; Kenny and Rhonda Howerton, Carrier; Marion and Kay Howerton, Enid; nine grandchildren, Dwayne Howerton, Katherine Dennison, Ryan Howerton, Dawn Bowen, Wes Howerton, Kendi Taylor, Matthew Nelson, Ashlee Skinner, and Jared Howerton; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Norma Jean Sanderson, of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as her beloved Yorkshire terrier, Molly. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond; her parents; two brothers, Albert and Leroy Schreiner; and one sister, Elsie Coffey.
