© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma January 8, 2017 March 4, 1924 ~ January 4, 2017 The graveside service for Evelyn Irene Houghton will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 9, 2017 in Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Jerry Holt officiating. The service is under the direction of Henninger~Hinson Funeral Home. Evelyn was born March 4, 1924 in Enid to Pete and Edith [Morris] Petersen and passed away January 4, 2017. She attended local area schools graduating from Enid High in 1942. Evelyn Married A.T. "Ted" Houghton March 21, 1946 in Enid where the couple made their home. After raising their children, Evelyn worked with her husband at The Wash House Laundry and as a custodian at Springs Medical Building. Evelyn enjoyed her cats, gardening and canning, but she especially loved spending time with her family and having them over for Sunday dinner every chance she got. Evelyn is survived by daughters, Cheryl and Bill Presley of Enid; Sue and Jim Yocham of Marshall, OK; Kathy and Richard Feiling of Phoenix, AZ; Diana and Dale Higbee of Post Falls, ID; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; sisters, Helen Rhodes and Nadine Watkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Betty Thompson. Memorials may be made to Enid SPCA with the Funeral Home acting as custodian of the fund. |
