© Enid Morning News Enid, Oklahoma May 1980 October 15, 1902 ~ May 22, 1980 Funeral services for Mrs Jesse F. [Ruth E.] Hooley, 77, who died Thursday afternoon in a local hospital of an apparent heart attack, will be at 2 PM Tuesday in the Central Christian Church with Dr Lloyd H. Lambert and the Rev Lewis L. Corporon officiating. Mrs Hooley will be buried in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. Mrs Hooley was born in Green County near Churdan, Iowa, October 15, 1902, and moved to Enid with her parents while she was a small child. She was a graduate of Enid high school and Phillips University. She and Jesse F. Hooley were married in Enid July 2, 1928. They celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary July 3, 1978, in Central Christian Church. Mrs. Hooley taught at Garfield elementary school and at Longfellow and Emerson junior high for a number of years. She was a member of the National Education Association, the Oklahoma Education Association, the Enid Education Association, the American Association of University Women, Kappa Kappa Iota and the National Retired Teachers Association. Mrs Hooley was also a member of Central Christian Church and the Pioneer Sunday School Class. A son, Jesse F Hooley Jr, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Jesse of the home at 2501 Indian Dr; two sons, the Rev Jerald K. Hooley of Wichita, Kansas, and Jon M. Hooley of Edmond; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Mrs Hooley to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Heart Division. Henninger-Allen will serve as custodian of the memorial fund. |

Lilly was born to Clyde and Anna Mae [Graham] Bailey on July 4, 1925, in San Antonio, Texas and passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017, at her home in Garber. Lilly grew up in San Antonio. She attended Beauty College.√ Lilly married Willie Earl Hooley on July 7, 1944 in San Antonio. They lived various places throughout Willie's time in the Army. They moved to Waukomis in the early 1960’s and then called Garber home since 1994. Lilly enjoyed embroidering and reading. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. Lilly is preceded in death by her husband, Willie; son Roger Hooley and 1 great grandson. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Hromas of Waukomis, J.C. Hooley of Norman, William Hooley of Enid, Robert Hooley of Burleson, Texas, Lana DeShazo of Garber, Mary Riddle of Tulsa, Patrick Hooley of Garber and Melody Wilson of Missoula, Montana; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Hooley, 85, of Enid, will be 2 pm Friday, Octobet 18, 2013, in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Roy Fountain, from Ardmore, will officiate under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. She was born December 30, 1927, to Clarence and Mabel Downing Best on the family farm, near Holly, Oklahoma, and passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013. She lived on the farm until she graduated from Gore High School. She then moved to Enid and worked at Marquis Studio until she met and married George Hooley on December 22, 1950. They were married 46 years. After raising five children, she then worked at Enid Mack Truck for eight years. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Lois was an avid OU Sooner fan, enjoyed cross-country trucking, spending time outdoors and going to the casino with her daughter. She is survived by her son, Chris Hooley and Melinda; daughters, Rhonda Butler and Darin, Vicki Usry and Kevin, Georgia Corbin and Rocky, and Logena Wilkerson and Bill; brother, Larry Best and Carol of Florida; Mimi to her grandchildren, Michele, Jamie, Shannon, Alisha, Carrie, Lisa, Christy and Cory; and great grandchildren, Jessica, Kasie, Blayke, Colin, Karsten, Kendall, Kelton, Christian, Megan, Hunter, Austin, Trevor, Kyle, Kaylie, Kayla and Colson. The greatest mother in the world, she will always be cherished by her family and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Gene, Eldon, Tom and Gerald Best. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cross Timbers Hospice with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds. Christensen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until 1 PM today. The casket will not be opened at the church. He was born in Enid. He attended Enid schools graduating in 1950. He received a bachelor of science from OSU in 1955. A veteran of the Korean War, he lived in Wichita for a short time before returning to Enid. He was a member of Central Christian Church and the Moose Lodge. Survivors include his parents, Mr and Mrs Jess F. Hooley Sr, Enid; two brothers, Rev Jerald Hooley, Oxford, Kansas, and Jon Hooley of Holdenville, also six nieces and nephews. |
