© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma September 11, 2018 April 16, 1927 ~ September 9, 2018 Celebration of Life Services for Gerald L Hobson, age 91, of Meno will be Friday, September 14, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, Lahoma with Pastor Martin Herzberg officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Gerald was born April 16, 1927 on the family farm near Meno, OK to H. Terry Hobson and Grace [Carlson] Hobson. He passed away, Sunday, September 9, 2018. He graduated from Lahoma High School in 1945. He served in the US Army during WW II for 17 months, with 11 months of that time in Korea. He married Geneva Riekenberg on November 4, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairmont, OK. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage. All those years together were spent in farming, with 17 years also spent working at George E Failing in Enid, OK. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lahoma, OK. He and Geneva had three children: Dr Larry [Donna] Hobson, Elkhart, TX; Carol [Dr Gary] Suttle, Edmond, OK; Byron [Mary] Hobson, Meno, OK. They were blessed with 9 grandchildren: Adam Hobson, Jared [Katie] Hobson, Christopher [Allison] Suttle, Dr. Carrie [Rev David Menet, Jonathan [Priya] Suttle, Betsy [Tim] Fleming, Rev Jay [Angelyn] Hobson, Dr Craig [Dr Rachel] Hobson, and Kristen [Nathan] Beu, Great Grandchildren include: Nora Hobson, Ella Suttle, Henry, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Moses Menet, Kaytlyn, McKenna and James Fleming, Julius and Amelia Hobson, Lennon Hobson, and Rylee Beu. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Vivian [Ralph] Matthewson and brother, Kenneth [Mary Jo] Hobson. Memorial gifts may be given to Lutheran Hour Ministries with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds. |

Hobson, age 91, of Meno, will be 10:00 am Monday, January 24, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church, Lahoma with Rev Randy Foote officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday 5:00-6:00 pm at the funeral home. Geneva was born November 2, 1930, in Fairmont, OK to Martin and Ella [Loesch] Riekenberg and passed away January 19, 2022 in the Golden Oaks Nursing Home. She was baptized November 30, 1930 and confirmed April 2, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairmont. Her confirmation verse was Rev. 3:20; "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him and he with me". After graduating from Douglas High School, she was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone until she married Gerald Hobson on November 4, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairmont, OK and together they celebrated 67 years of marriage before he passed away September 9, 2018. All those years together were spent in farming. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lahoma, OK. She had three children: Dr Larry [Donna] Hobson, Elkhart, TX; Carol [Dr Gary] Suttle, Edmond, OK; Byron [Mary] Hobson, Meno, OK. They were blessed with 9 grandchildren: Adam Hobson, Jared [Katie] Hobson, Christopher [Allison] Suttle, Dr Carrie [Rev David Menet], Dr Jonathan [Priya] Suttle, Betsy [Tim] Fleming, Rev Jay [Angelyn] Hobson, Dr. Craig [Dr. Rachel] Hobson, and Kristen [Nathan] Beu, 23 Great Grandchildren include: Nora and Lucy Hobson, Ella and Geneva Suttle, Henry, Elizabeth Mae, Hannah, Moses and Solomon Menet, Isaiah and Ari Suttle, Kaytlyn, McKenna, James and Cora Fleming, Julius, Amelia and Ezra Hobson, Lennon, Isaac and Eli Hobson, and Rylee Mae and Aiden Beu, sisters-in-law Walterean Riekenberg of Enid and Dottie Riekenberg of Dodge City, KS and several other family members. Geneva was preceded in death by parents and brothers Richard Riekenberg and J.C. Riekenberg. Memorial gifts may be given to Lutheran Hour Ministries with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
