Sibyl M. [Cress] Hobbs
June 18, 1912 ~ January 16, 2018


Graveside service for Sibyl Hobbs, 105, is 2 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain Drew Drawbridge officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Sibyl was born June 19, 1912, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, to John and Sarah Rollins Cress, and died January 16, 2018, in Enid.

She grew up on a farm near Beggs, Oklahoma.

On August 13, 1929, she married Denzel Hobbs in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

They lived in Oklahoma and Detroit. After WWII, they lived in southern California.

Sibyl moved to Enid in 1977.

She was a member of Central Assembly of God Church.

She loved her family, gardening, cooking, traveling and camping.

Sibyl was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, and two sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lee Rush, and Phyllis Kay Long and husband Jim, all of Enid; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Robert Hugh Hobbs
September 5, 1916 ~ May 28, 2011


Funeral service for Robert Hugh Hobbs, 94, of Lawton, will be 2 pm today, May 31, 2011, at New Hope United Methodist Church, Enid, Okla., with Rev Montie Jones, director of Cameron Campus Ministries in Lawton and Rev Sheila Combs-Francis, pastor of New Hope United Methodist Church, Enid, Okla., officiating.

Mr. Hobbs died Saturday, May 28, 2011, in Lawton. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, Okla., under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Lawton.

He was born September 5, 1916, in Pond Creek, Okla., to William Marshall and Nora Margaret [Durkee] Hobbs.

His father made the Cherokee Strip Land Run of 1893 and settled on a farm five miles east of Pond Creek, Okla. Robert was the youngest of 13 children.

He graduated from Enid High School in 1933 and began working for Armour Creamery in 1936. In 1935 he joined Grand Avenue Methodist Church, where he met Dorotha Viola Green. They were married in 1938 and lived in Enid in a loving marriage for 65 years until her death in 2002.

After Armour Creamery closed in 1950, Bob went to work for Union Equity Grain Elevator and was the superintendent of Elevator A until he retired in 1982.

While attending Grand Avenue Methodist Church, he was active, generous and a dedicated United Methodist throughout his life. He donated his time and energy to many leadership roles, but his favorite ones were being the head usher and greeter and teaching an elementary Sunday school class.

Robert loved animals and grew luscious vegetable gardens and beautiful flowers. He loved his family, both the Hobbs family and the Green family. He particularly cherished time with his nieces and nephews and neighbor "kids." He was a devoted and generous father, grandfather and was greatly loved by his family.

In 2004 he moved to Brookridge Retirement Center in Lawton, where he developed many new friends and domino partners.

He is survived by his daughter, Marlene [Hobbs] Jones and husband Rev. Phil Jones of Lawton, Okla.; two grandsons, Dr Phil Jones and wife Cathleen of Norman, Okla., and Mark Jones and wife Lori Leu of Plano, Texas; four grandchildren, Colin Jones and Logan Jones of Norman and Allyson Jones and Hayden Jones of Plano, Texas; sister, Clara Buffalow of Ponca City, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Olive Corrine [Nichols]Hobbs
November 24, 1923 ~ July 16, 2919


A Celebration of Life for Olive Corrine [Nichols] Hobbs, age 95, of Enid, is 2:00 pm, Friday, July 19, 2019 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Dan Barrick officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, July 18th at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Olive was born November 24, 1923 in Enid to Charles and Icie [Gratner] Nichols and passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019 in Enid.

She married J. Leonard Hobbs October 18, 1941 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and they celebrated 63 years together before he passed away in 2004.

She and Leonard were members of the Enid C.B. Club and the Enid Go Kart Club. They also did crafts and attended many craft shows. Throughout the years, they also traveled extensively.

She is preceded in death by her parents and twelve siblings.

Olive is survived by four children, Dennis Hobbs and wife Gwen of Newalla, OK; Joyce Morris and husband Dennis; Cheryl Batterman and husband Marvin; and daughter Terri King, all of Enid; ten grandchildren, Russel Hobbs and wife Angel; Greg Hobbs and wife Susan; Justin Hobbs and wife Ali of; Curtis Morris and wife Mary; Madelyn Morris; Barry Batterman and wife Tara; Heidi Fisher and husband Eric; Brock, Chase, and Dayne King, all of Enid; and many other great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Memorials in Olive's name may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

Douglas Lee Hobbs
December 28, 1926 ~ June 8, 1981


Douglas L. Hobbs, 54, 5210 Grayridge, died at his home Tuesday evening. Services will be at 2 PM Saturday in Oakwood Christian Church, with the Rev Joe Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Hobbs was born December 28, 1926, near Nash.

He grew up in the Lamont community and attended school there.

He is a World War II veteran and served with the US Army.

He was an elder and member of the Willing Workers Sunday school class at Oakwood Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanore [Tippie], of the home; two daughters, Sheila Hobbs, of the home; Mrs Sonny [Carol] Swartwood, Greenville, Texas; two sons, Ron, of Frisco, Colorado, and Staff Sergeant David Hobbs, South Korea; one sister, Betty McIntire, Tonkawa; four brothers, Cecil of Spokane, Washington; Ivan, Lawrence, Kansas; Daryle, Yukon, and Bernard, Enid; his mother, Elgar Hobbs, Lamont; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and one sister.

Contributions in memory of Hobbs may be made to the Heart Division of the Oklahoma Medical Research, or to the Oakwood Christian Church. The funeral home will serve as custodian for the funds.

Kurt Douglas Hobbs Sr
December 28, 1926 ~ January 24, 2007


Funeral services for Kurt Douglas Hobbs Sr, 58, will be today, January 27, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Tony Crispo will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kurt was born December 29, 1948, in Enid to Nelson and Betty [Tinder] Hobbs and died January 24, 2007, after a long illness.

He graduated from Enid High School in 1966. He attended Northwestern College in Alva from 1966-1969.

He served in the Air Force from 1969 to 1976 as sergeant. He served in Thailand and then in Big Springs, Texas, and Glasgow, Mont. as an air traffic controller.

From 1976 to 1979 he served on the Enid Police Department and from 1979-1996 he was a flight simulator operator at Vance Air Force Base.

He married Marilyn Webb on May 5, 1970, in Oklahoma City.

Kurt loved to fish and hunt, tinker with computers, collect movies and he loved Christmas. He was a gunfighter at Frontier City and also collected guns. He loved drag racing and going fast.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn, of the home; children, Kurt D. Hobbs Jr and his wife Angill of Enid, Kelly Dugger and husband Buddy of Enid, David Hobbs of Midwest City; grandchildren, Derek and Dustin Maxwell, Dane Dugger and Lexie Overstreet, Nick, Ashley and Austin Hobbs, Kenda Case, Kurt D. Hobbs III; mother, Betty Lack formerly of Enid; sisters, Beth Steier and husband Ted of Enid, Frieda Kliewer and husband Glenn of Fairview and Beverly and Nelda Hobbs of Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson J. Hobbs Sr; stepfather, James Lack; brother, Nelson Jack Hobbs Jr.; and sister, Tammy Lack.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
