John Henry "Hank" Herth
February 21, 1920 ~ August 20, 2009


The funeral for John "Hank" Herth, of Enid, will be 10 am Monday, August 24, 2009, at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

John Henry "Hank" Herth was born to Jacob and Katrina [Schwab] Herth on February 21, 1920, on a farm east of Enid. He passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009, at age 89.

He went to a country grade school west of Enid and attended high school in Lahoma.

In January 1942, he entered the Army Air Force and served in the Middle East, North Africa and Italy during World War II as a crew chief. He was awarded three battle medals and discharged in 1945.

After his discharge, he was employed by Banfield Packing Co. for 23 years, then by Armour & Co. for 12 years.

On January 9, 1948, John married Vadah Shelton and had recently celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Everyone who knew him agreed that he was the most honest person ever known.

He was a member of Moose Lodge 1740 since 1964, serving as trustee, treasurer and prelate.

John received the Legion and Fellowship Degree as well as the Fellow of the Year Award in 2000. He also was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jacob Herth and Herman Herth; and sister, Rose Mitten.

John is survived by his wife, Vadah; daughter, Susan Edwards of Sand Springs; son, Kenny Herth of Edmond; grandchildren, Stephanie Govich and husband Mat of Norman, James Jeremy Edwards and wife Kristin of Fort Worth, Texas, and John Jeffrey Edwards and wife Laura of Sand Springs; great grandchildren, Alyx and Ellery Edwards of Sand Springs, Mila Govich of Norman and Jaden Edwards of Fort Worth, Texas.

Vadah A. Shelton Herth
August 12, 1911 ~ January 16, 2010


Funeral service for Vadah A. Herth, of Enid, will be 10 am Friday, January 22, 2010, at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Service is under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Vadah A. Herth, of Enid OK, was born to Orie and Clara [Kendall] Shelton on August 12, 1911, at the home of her grandparents in Winfield Kansas. She passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the age of 98.

When she was a month old, her mother brought her home on the Frisco, the railroad for which her father worked.

She attended Kenwood grade school, Emerson Junior High, and graduated from Enid High School in 1929. She then graduated from Enid Business College in 1930.

Her first place of employment was with W. P. Foster and Howard Oliver, New York Life Insurance Agents.

When the owner of the Oxford Hotel hired H. G. Stewart, she became his secretary.

In 1937, Vadah began working in the office of Banfield Packing Company. She worked there until her marriage to John "Hank" Herth in Enid on January 9, 1948.

In August of that year, they moved to Chickasha OK. Two years later, they returned to Enid. They continued working at Banfield until it closed.

She was a volunteer at Bass Hospital for 23 years. For 75 years, she was a charter member of Delta Theta Chi Sorority. She was member of the Central Christian Church, and then became a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church when she married Mr Herth.

Herman Herth
June 7, 1913 ~ April 6, 2003


Funeral services for Herman Herth, age 89 of Fairmont, will be 2 pm today in The Zion Lutheran Church of Fairmont. Rev Timothy Dorsch will officiate. Burial will follow in the garden chapel of Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Herman was born June 7, 1913 in Lahoma to George Jacob and Katrina Schwab Herth and died late Sunday evening, April 6, 2003 in Highland Park Manor.

He was a graduate of Lahoma schools and attended a year with Enid Business College.

On May 10, 1936 Herman married Iola Nehring in Lahoma. They farmed in Lahoma, Perry and finally in Fairmont. While farming in Fairmont, he also worked for 5 years with Newman's Department Store during the winters. He retired from farming and moved into Fairmont in 1955 where they lived until his death. In 1958 he went to work for Union Equity Elevator until his retirement in 1978 after 20 years.

Herman is survived by his wife Iola Herth of the home, two sons, Don Herth and his wife Betty of Enid, Marty Herth and his wife Gail of Oklahoma City, a brother, John H. Herth and his wife Vadah of Enid, five grandchildren, Terry Herth and his wife Lorie, Kristy Pendleton and her husband Scott all of Enid, Donolyn Herth of Choctaw, Nicole Herth of Browning, Montana, and Dustin Herth in the US Navy serving in Sasebo, Japan, four great grandchildren, Shane and Lexie Pendleton, Jacob Herth all of Enid and Eric Walton of Choctaw.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Memorials can be made through the funeral home to Zion Lutheran Church of Fairmont or Hospice Circle of Love

Iola Violet Nehring Herth
September 14, 1915 ~ April 19, 2011


Funeral service for Iola V. Herth, 95, will be 11 am Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairmont. Rev Timothy Dorsch will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Iola was born September 14, 1915, in Boyd, Minn., to August and Marie [Rabe Nehring.

In 1928 she came with her parents to Enid, Okla., and died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Greenbrier Nursing Home.

She attended Saint Paul's Lutheran School, Longfellow Junior High and Enid High School.

She worked for Rochester Handkerchief Factory and Ormsbee Enid Factory and later at Fairmont Post Office for over 10 years. She worked part-time at Garfield County Election Board in Fairmont, retiring in 2009.

On May 10, 1936, she married Herman Herth in Lahoma, Okla. They farmed in Lahoma, Perry and Fairmont and in 1955 moved to their present address.

Iola is survived by two sons, Dondevere "Don" and wife Betty of Enid and Martin "Marty" and wife Gail of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Terry and wife Lorie, Kristy and husband Scott Pendleton of Enid, Donolyn and fiancé Tom Merchant of Choctaw, Nicole and husband Phil Schumaker, Dustin and fiancé Calley McGehee of Oklahoma City; six great grandchildren, Eric Walton of Midwest City, Shane and Lexie Pendleton and Jacob Herth of Enid, Nora and Abigail Schumaker of Oklahoma City; two great great-\ grandchildren, Zoe and Sadie Walton of Midwest City; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and five brothers and six sisters. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Ross Hospice
