© Enid Morning News Enid, Oklahoma July 1968 March 11, 1908 ~ July 23, 1968 Dr Norman M. Harris, 60, 2818 Longview Drive, died early this morning in an Enid hospital. A doctor of osteopathy, Dr Harris came to Enid from Amarillo, Texas, 13 years ago and was associated with the Gau Clinic and later opened his own office. He retired from practice two years ago. He was a graduate of Kansas City College of Osteopathy and a member of the College of Surgeons. Dr Harris was born in Chickasha, was a member of the Emmanuelle Baptist Church, the Khiva Shrine Temple in Amarillo and the Enid Shrine Club. He is also a past director of the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Enid Rotary Club. He is a member of Garfield Masonic Lodge 501 and the El Paso Scottish Rite. Services will be at 10 AM Thursday in Emmanuelle Baptist Church with C. Mack Roark officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home. Masonic graveside rites will be directed by Masonic Lodge 501 of Enid. He is survived by his widow, Marian, of the home; two sons, John and Lowell, both of the home; his mother, Mrs Grace Harris, Santa Ana, California; his father, Guy Harris, El Reno, and a brother Kenneth, Oakley. |

© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma April 4, 2014 March 22, 1941 ~ March 31, 2014 ENID, OK — Funeral service for Bobby Joe Harris, 73, of Enid, Okla., will be 10 am Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Stittsworth Memory Chapel, with Pastor Steve Meier, Pastor of Gospel Light Baptist Church officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors. Bobby was born March 22, 1941, in Richland, Mo., the son of Elvin Warren and Mary Lee Salsman Harris, and passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2014, in Enid. Bobby married Carolyn Crowe, later moving to Enid. He worked in the oil field, was a member of Bible Baptist Church, loved camping, fishing, and traveling. Survivors include mother, Mary Finnegan of Enid; sons, Brian Harris of Eureka, Calif., Jimmy Gross of Enid, Kenneth Gross of Hennessey and Brandon Harris of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughters, Neena Givens of Perry, Lisa Masters of Kingfisher, Jamie Gore of Stillwater and Susan Mitchell of Kingfisher; 22 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma January 2011 November 19, 1952 ~ January 29, 2011 ENID - Funeral service for Martin Harris will be 2 p.m. Friday, Febreuary 4, 2011, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel followed by the procession to Memorial Park Cemetery. Service is under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Martin Leon Harris was born to Orval and Hildegard Harris on Novemb er 19, 1952, in Fort Benning, Ga., and passed away at Hospice House in Oklahoma City on Saturday, January 29, 2011, after a short bout with cancer. Martin was an only child and saw many places, including Japan and California, growing up in a military family. The Harris family eventually settled in northwest Oklahoma, where Martin attended Waller Junior High School and Hennessey High School. Martin enlisted in the United States Army and was assigned to the 51st Infantry. He was deployed to Vietnam, where he served in the 101st Airborne, Special Forces, from 1971 to 1972. He was injured in combat and honorably discharged with a Purple Heart. He received several other medals and badges for his service. After returning to Oklahoma, Martin worked various jobs at Vance Air Force Base. He met Linda Jo McBlair in 1978 and they were soon married. Martin later went to work for Dowell Schlumberger. In his 20 years of employment, he was an equipment operator, driver safety trainer, and service supervisor. Following his lengthy career with Dowell, he began work in the environmental field. In 2000, he became a proud co-owner of EcoSystems Environmental Services Inc. with his daughter. He retired from the company in 2009. Martin loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was a member of American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America and Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Linda Harris; two married daughters, Kristi Brooks and husband Phillip and Crystal McCoy and husband Dirk; and two grandchildren, Coleton and Olivia McCoy, that were his pride and joy. © Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Enid, Oklahoma August 27, 2008 November 21, 1952 ~ August 24, 2008 >Enid, OK - The funeral for Patricia Ann Harris, 55, of Enid, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Westside Church of God in Christ. Pastor D. L. Norwood will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. She was born November 21, 1952, in Enid to Fannie Mae Branch and Willie Harris and died Sunday, August 24, 2008, at her home. She grew up in Enid and attended Carver Elementary, Longfellow Jr High and graduated from Enid High School in 1971. She worked as a PBX operator for 25 years for Jack Baldwin, later owning her own answering service AVATAR in the Broadway Towers. She also worked for Pioneer Telephone Services before retiring early due to illness. She was a member of Westside Church of God in Christ. Surviving are two sons, Evan and Juan Harris, both of Enid; two brothers, Robert Goodson of Oklahoma City and Melvin Branch of Enid; one sister, Sandra Hannah of Tulsa; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother. Memorials may be made in her memory to Westside Church of God in Christ. |
