Enid man found dead in car

Police believe the death of an Enid man, found early Thursday in a car parked in his garage, was suicide.

The victims wife and two daughters were treated for carbon monoxide poisoning then released from a St. Mary's hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Thomas Guthrie, 33, was found dead about 7 AM Thursday. His body was in the front seat of his car in the family garage, 5506 Arrowhead.

According to police reports, a vacuum cleaner hose, attached to a radiator hose, was stretched from the exhaust pipe of the automobile through a car window.

Police Captain Larry Nichols said the hose had melted and released carbon monoxide fumes into the house.

One of Guthrie's daughters awoke her mother, Georgia Guthrie, 32, Nichols said.

Mrs. Guthrie and her daughters, ages 13 and 11, were taken to St. Mary's by ambulance.

Nickel said no note was found and police did not have a motive for the death.

No foul play was suspected, Nichols said.
