Memorial Park Cemetery


The graveside services for Paul Edwin Gray, 83, of Enid, will be noon Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Paul Hass, of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Paul Edwin Gray was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Pauls Valley, OK, to Charles Wesley and Josephine White Gray and died Feb 24, 2008, in Enid. After growing up in Pauls Valley, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

After his discharge, he married Kathleen Wolf in Kingfisher on April 28, 1946. He continued his education, graduating from Central High School in Oklahoma City. After graduation from the University of Oklahoma in January 1951 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, he worked for British American, Champlin Oil and Tennessee Gas in the oil fields of Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana and Oklahoma. During this time, Paul and Kathleen had three children, Wess, Steve and Linda. The family moved to Enid in 1961, and Paul worked as a bricklayer and carpenter. He opened Gray's Repair Shop in 1964, repairing bicycles, lawnmowers and sharpening saws.

He was preceded in death by his son Steve in July 1978, his sister Rosalee and his brother Charles.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Gray; son, Wess Gray and wife Jolene and their children Nicci Gray Crowley and husband Chris, Glenn Gray Brown and husband Michael and Lauren Gray; daughter-in-law, Linda Mason Gray Kellick and husband Dennis and their daughter, Shona Gray Runnels and husband Charlie; daughter, Linda Gray Reck and husband Bill and their children Bill and Steve Reck. Great-grandchildren are Kara Runnels and Gabriel Crowley.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Paul's Lutheran School or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Alzheimer's Fund.
