© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma February 27, 2008 September 11, 1924 ~ February 24, 2008 The graveside services for Paul Edwin Gray, 83, of Enid, will be noon Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Paul Hass, of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Paul Edwin Gray was born September 11, 1924, in Pauls Valley, OK, to Charles Wesley and Josephine White Gray and died February 24, 2008, in Enid. After growing up in Pauls Valley, he served in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge, he married Kathleen Wolf in Kingfisher on April 28, 1946. He continued his education, graduating from Central High School in Oklahoma City. After graduation from the University of Oklahoma in January 1951 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, he worked for British American, Champlin Oil and Tennessee Gas in the oil fields of Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana and Oklahoma. During this time, Paul and Kathleen had three children, Wess, Steve and Linda. The family moved to Enid in 1961, and Paul worked as a bricklayer and carpenter. He opened Gray's Repair Shop in 1964, repairing bicycles, lawnmowers and sharpening saws. He was preceded in death by his son Steve in July 1978, his sister Rosalee and his brother Charles. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Gray; son, Wess Gray and wife Jolene and their children Nicci Gray Crowley and husband Chris, Glenn Gray Brown and husband Michael and Lauren Gray; daughter-in-law, Linda Mason Gray Kellick and husband Dennis and their daughter, Shona Gray Runnels and husband Charlie; daughter, Linda Gray Reck and husband Bill and their children Bill and Steve Reck. Great grandchildren are Kara Runnels and Gabriel Crowley. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Saint Paul's Lutheran School or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Alzheimer's Fund. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma January 12, 2018 October 14, 1925 ~ January 10, 2018 The funeral service for Bethel Mildred Gray, 92 year-old Enid resident, is 10 am Saturday, January 13, 2018, in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Gary Miller will officiate. Burial follows in Memorial Park Cemetery. Bethel was born October 14, 1925, near Marshall, Oklahoma, to David Harley Cline and Martha May [Blakley] Cline, and died Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in Integris bass Baptist Health Center. She was named for her father's sister, Mildred States, and her mother's sister, Bethel Browning. She was reared on the farm and educated in Roxana Grade School. She graduared from Marshall High School in 1944. Bethel moved to Enid soon after graduation. She married Noah V. Allen in 1947. They were parents of a son and daughter. The family made their home in Enid. They were in the automobile business, along with purchasing the Lomgbell Lumber Company, Nash Lumber Yard, Knox Auto Stores, and Rosenfiled Jewelry in Shawnee. After her husband's death, she retained the real estate holdings and continued with the investments and rental property management. Bethel graduated from Floral School in Denver, Colorado., and was a designer for 52 years. Previous to her designing career, she was a bookkeeper for Silver's Electric and was city clerk of North Enid. She and Richard Gray were married in 1974. They traveled extensively. He died in 1992. Richard and Bethel were the first couple ever to become Kiwanis Club Members. Bethel was a member of Davis Park Christian Church, Enid Chapter No. 36 of Order of the Eastern Star, local AARP, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, life member of Air Force Sergeants Widows, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by one son, Noah V. Allen Jr; one daughter, Mary Lucile [Allen] Durham; two granddaughters, April Sue Allen and Summer Bethel [Durham] Marrow, one great grandson, Jacob Dewitt Marrow, one great granddaughter, Julia, and one special daughter, Claudine Rogers of Enid. © Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Enid, Oklahoma May 2023 July 21, 1926 ~ May 12, 2023 The services celebrating and honoring the life of Kathleen Meta [Wolf] Gray "Katzy", 96, of Enid, will be held 11:00 AM Thursday May 18, 2023, in the Saint Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor David Reber officiating. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Thanks to the "Greenbrier Villages". Katzy was the daughter of Gus and Lena Wolf, the little sister of Leona Young, Arnold Wolf and Eleanor Turner Kremeier and eventually the big sister of Gus Robert "Buddy" Wolf. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran, the church her grandfather helped found in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. In her junior year of high school, her father took a job at Tinker and along with her parents, she moved to Oklahoma City. She graduated in 1944 from Central High School. In January of 1946, she met Paul Gray, and they were married April 28, 1946. Working in downtown Oklahoma City, she helped put Paul through Petroleum Engineering School at OU. Thus began 9 years of nomadic life in the oil patch. Wess [1953], Steve [1956] and Linda [1959] were the focus of a stay-at-home mother. 1961 began their family's life in Enid. After Linda entered Kindergarten, Kathleen started washing dishes in the Longfellow cafeteria and eventually retired as cafeteria manager after 26 years in 1991. Their son Steve died in a car accident July 4, 1978. She helped in raising four granddaughters and welcomed her two Chicago grandsons on their yearly vacations to Enid. Shortly after her retirement, Paul became ill and she was his 24/7 caretaker until his hospitalization in 2007 and death in 2008. They were married 61 years. During her retirement years, she also helped with two of her great grandchildren. In 2020, Steve's wife Linda passed away from Lewy-Body Disorder. She served many wonderful Sunday dinners, often with produce from her garden. She was involved at Saint Paul's Lutheran helping in the school library and with Vacation Bible School. As a lifelong Lutheran, she spent all of her life caring for others. She leaves behind children Wess and Jolene Gray, Linda and Bill Reck, grandchildren Nicci and Chris Crowley, Shona and Charles Runnels, Glenn and Michael Brown, Bill and Abbie Reck, Lauren and Corey Keller, Steve Reck, and great grandchildren Kara and Mason [Runnels], Gabriel and Amita [Crowley], Emersyn [Brown], Harlan and Thatcher [Reck], and Everlynn [Reck].
