Graveside services for LaVern Homer Gragert of Enid will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend David Reber, Jr. officiating. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

LaVern H. Gragert was born February 10, 1928, to Fred J. and Dorothea (Meyer) Gragert in Douglas, OK. He died on November 27, 2020 in Enid, OK. He was made a child of God through baptism on February 13, 1928, by Rev. Henry Mueller of Zion Lutheran Church, Fairmont, OK. He also confirmed his faith at Zion Lutheran on April 6, 1941. He attended Otter Valley School, Dist. 78, and graduated from Garber High School with the class of 1946. The lessons and memorizations from his early years served him well in his later years.

He married Opal H. Heim on May 23, 1948, at Grace Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City. After he and Opal were married, they made their home in Enid and were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He served as an elder, an usher, on the church council, and other committees. He was employed at Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1986. He and Opal enjoyed travelling with the OnGoers and visiting their grandchildren.

LaVern is survived by his wife of 72 years, Opal; daughter, Kris Ann Young (Ronald), Enid; Paula Susan Adler (Stephen), Parker, CO; son-in-law, Montie Walton, Enid. Grandchildren: Amy Young Doyle (Warren); Jennifer D. Adler; Kyle R. Young (Nikki); Amanda Adler Scherdin (Jeffrey); Toby G. Young; Kristopher J. Adler. Great grandchildren: Rylee, Camryn and Mia Grace Doyle; Kylee and Coltyn Young; Avery Scherdin; Kaleb Coleman. Also step- grandchildren: Dustin Walton (Lindsey) and Perry Walton (Nicole) and their children, Lucas, Madelyn, Jack, Abagail and Hannah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Merton and Forest Gragert, one sister, Helen Gragert Wyssmann, and his beloved daughter, Ruth Marie Walton. Also, an infant daughter and an infant great grandson, Gabriel.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. We wish to thank the caregivers at Grace Care, Encompass Home Health, and Brookdale Senior Living for their loving care of our husband and father.
