ENID, OK — Clinton E. “Gene” Goben, 75, of Enid, Okla., passed away on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in Enid.

Visitation with family will be held at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, 3002 N. Van Buren, Enid, today, Feb. 24, 2014, from 5:30-7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Garriott Road Church of Christ, 3601 West Owen K. Garriott Road, Enid, on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at 2 p.m., with Dan Fraser and Bill Goben officiating. Burial/Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, Enid, is handling the funeral arrangements.

Gene was born in Oklahoma City to Clinton E. and Eletha (Janeway) Goben on Sept. 28, 1938.

He graduated from high school in 1956, in Great Falls, Mont., and attended York College, York, Neb.

He was a minister for the Church of Christ in Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Oklahoma. At time of his death, he was preaching at Northside Church of Christ in Waynoka, Okla. In addition, he was a District Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America and worked in a variety of sales and service positions. He held various public service positions including mayor and chamber president, Broken Bow, Neb.; mayor of Canton, Okla.; and served on several city boards. He was involved in Toastmasters, Lions Club, Boy Scouts of America, Custer County Sheriff’s Posse, Custer County Car Club, Studebaker Car Club, NOHVA and working with various Bible camps/campaigns.

He enjoyed camping, motorcycling, snowmobiling, ATVs, auctions, a variety of collections and studying the Bible at every opportunity. He received many scouting awards, including the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Scotty; and a brother, Wayne.

He is survived by his wife, Grace of the home; three children, Randy (Kathy) Goben and Pam (Brian) Love, all of Winfield, Kan., and Rick (Charity) Goben, Enid; six grandchildren, Dereck (Tina), Jacob, Jessica, Alexis and Mikaela; great-grandchild, Aubra; brother, Bill (Shirley) Goben, Billings, Mont.; sister-in-law, Loretta Goben, York, Neb.; two sisters, Becky (Dan) Fraser, Lincoln, Neb., and Gay (Richard) Colgrove, Missoula, Mont.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Yellowstone Bible Camp, In Search of the Lord’s Way or Colorado Christian Services.

The funeral service for Mary Grace Goben, age 77, of Enid, will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 29, 2016, at Garriott Road Church of Christ, with Bill Goben and Dan Fraser officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Family will gather to visit with friends at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Thursday, April 28 5PM-7PM.

Grace was born to Francis and Agnes (Kissee) Cleveland on December 11, 1938, in Bozeman, Montana, and passed away Monday, April 25, 2016, in Oklahoma City.

On September 1, 1957, Grace married Clinton "Gene" Goben in Bozeman, and they resided across the Midwest in the following states: Montana, Nebraska, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Oklahoma. She retired as office manager from Dave Davis Auction and Farmers National in Broken Bow, Nebraska when they moved to Oklahoma in 2006. They later moved to Enid in February 2008. Grace was employed by Enid Public Schools, working at McKinley Elementary School in food service. She was a member of Garriott Road church of Christ in Enid.

Grace is survived by her children: Randy and Kathy Goben, Pam and Brian Love, all of Winfield, Kansas, and Rick and Charity Goben of Enid; five grandchildren: Dereck (Tina), Jacob, Jessica, Alexis and Mikaela; one great-grandchild Aubra.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene (2/21/14) and infant son Scotty.

Memorials may be made to Yellowstone Bible Camp or Colorado Christian Services.
