Services celebrating and honoring the life of John Joseph Glaze, 90, of Enid, will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, at First Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Dan Barrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

John was born in Westmorland, Calif., on Oct. 4, 1929, to Clarence Dewitt and Eunice Myrtle (Pitts) Glaze Sr. and passed from this life Aug. 14, 2020, at his home after a short illness.

John graduated from Enid High School in 1948. In 1950, he enlisted for four years in the United States Air Force, serving one year in Korea during the Korean War.

In 1961, John married Clara Jean Bell on July 22 in Highland, Calif., before making their home in Enid.

John worked 28 years for the Enid post office and then at least 10 years as a custodian for Enid Public Schools.

John had a great love for the outdoors, and one way to enjoy it was on the back of his bicycle, riding it many miles over the years all over Northwest Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean, of the home, a daughter Susan Rice and husband Gary, of Ringwood, two sons, David Glaze and wife Gwen, of Hunter, and John E. Glaze, of Enid; three granddaughters Christi Gay and husband Eric, of Iowa, Sherry Rice, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Virginia Glaze, of Alhambra, Calif.; one brother Bob Christensen and wife Molly, of Meza, Ariz., one sister Joyce Keahey and husband Dwayne, of McKinney, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Glaze and Eunice Glaze Christensen, stepfather Newt Christensen, four sisters, four brothers and his beloved grandson, Conrad Rice.
