September 13, 1928 - February 23, 2020

A Celebration of Life Service for Opal F. George, age 91, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born Sept. 13, 1928, on her Homestead in Harper County to James and Lucy (Young) Irwin and passed away Feb. 23, 2020, at The Commons Nursing Center. She married William Edward George on June 2, 1952, in Woodward, Okla., and he passed away Sept. 2, 2008. They moved to Enid in 1956. Opal was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served in the nursery. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and a member of Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Lions Club. She looked forward to going to McDonald's every morning to visit with her friends.

She is survived by her children: Geneva (Jim) Osburn, Gerald (Birdie) George, Eldon (Shirley) George and Gilbert (Debbie) George; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Melba Irwin.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband, sisters Anna and Marie, brothers Ralph, Robert and Willis, and her parents.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
