© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma October 1985 March 6, 1907 ~ October 8, 1985 Jet – Lester V. George, 78, died Tuesday at a Cherokee hospital. The graveside service will be 2 PM Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid with the Reverend Tom Webster officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Henninger-Allen Funeral Home. George was born March 6, 1907, in Ringold, Texas. He was married to Clara Failing on August 18, 1927. The couple lived in several places in Texas and Oklahoma. Jet had been their home for the past nine years. George was a member of the Christian church. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Lee George, Jet, Merl and Verl George, both of Catoosa, and Randy George, Kenai, Alaska; a daughter, Mrs Malcolm [Lela] Thoma, Jet; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Memorials in his name may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Cancer Research with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund. |

Enid, Oklahoma September 2008 March 11, 1926 ~ September 2, 2008 Bill was born May 11, 1926, near Gage, in Ellis County, to William Andrew and Iva Elizabeth [Gracey] George and died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in Enid. He graduated from Gage High School in 1947 and Oklahoma Barber College in 1952. He served in the Navy during WW II from 1944-1946 and was in the Army Reserves for three years. He worked at George's Barber Shop in Gage for five years, Legrant's Barber Shop in Enid for two years, and George's Barber Shop in Enid for 29 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 51 years, the American Legion for 60 years, and the Pioneer-Pleasantvale Lions Club for 32 years. He married Opal Faye Irwin, June 2, 1952. He is survived by his wife, Opal, of the home; his children, Geneva Osburn and husband Jim, Eldon George and wife Shirley, Gilbert George and wife Debbie, all of Enid, and Gerald George and wife Birdie of Grand Prairie, TX; six grandchildren, Garrett, Phillip, Logan, Tiffany, Jeffrey, Madisyn and Samantha; and one great grandchild, Brandon. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister. |

George, age 91, of Enid, will be 10 am Thursday at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born September 13, 1928, on her Homestead in Harper County to James and Lucy [Young] Irwin and passed away February 23, 2020, at The Commons Nursing Center. She married William Edward George on June 2, 1952, in Woodward, Okla., and he passed away September 2, 2008. They moved to Enid in 1956. Opal was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served in the nursery. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and a member of Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Lions Club. She looked forward to going to McDonald's every morning to visit with her friends. She is survived by her children: Geneva [Jim] Osburn, Gerald [Birdie] George, Eldon [Shirley George and Gilbert [Debbie] George; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and sister-in-law Melba Irwin. Opal was preceded in death by her husband, sisters Anna and Marie, brothers Ralph, Robert and Willis, and her parents. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma June 18, 2022 May 10, 1955 ~ June 16, 2022 Funeral services for Beverly Bea George, age 67, of Enid, will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, with Rev Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Beverly was born May 10, 1955, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Mayo and Virginia [Stotts] Root, and passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, in Oklahoma City. Beverly was a graduate of Enid High School in 1973. She was united in marriage to Timothy George on April 5, 1986, in Broken Arrow, OK. She began her career with Safeway Food Stores, eventually retiring from Jumbo Foods in 2017. She also worked for a while at Enid Family Lab. She was a member of Central Christian Church. Beverly was a seven-year survivor of breast cancer. Her career was shortened to care for her ailing mother full time. She enjoyed crafting, gardening and attracting birds in her back yard, but what she loved the most was her family, and her beloved pets. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Mayo and Virginia Root; husband Timothy George; and brother, Robert Root. She is survived by three siblings, Ed Root and wife Karen, of Perry, OK, Mayo Root, of Enid, and sister, Ginny [Root] Oblander, of Kingfisher, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions in Beverly's name may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Central Christian Church or Enid SPCA, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
