© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma February 1979 September 1, 1899 ~ February 2, 1979 Charlie Leroy Gates, 79, 2013 E. Ash, died Friday in a local nursing home after a period of ill health. Gates was born September 1, 1899, at Waukomis and had lived in the Enid area all his life. He worked for the Union Equity Cooperative Exchange, retiring after 30 years. On May 10, 1925, he married Myrtle Painter, who survives him at the home address. Other survivors include three sons, Leroy, Freddie and Frankie Gates, all of Enid; two daughters, Mrs Dorothy Lungsford, Leachville, Arkansas, and Mrs Mary Chodrick, Enid; three sisters, Mrs. Chloe Porter, Fay; Mrs. Esther Campbell, Lubbock, Texas, and Mrs Alta Justin, California; 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Services for Gates will be at 2 PM Tuesday in the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Larry Parks officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. |
