Dortha Marie [Burnett] Gainey
September 1, 1920 ~ July 29, 2004


Funeral services for Dortha Marie Burnett Gainey, 83, will be at 2 PM Monday, at Saint Matthews Episcopal Church. The Reverend Ken Armstrong will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

Dortha was born September 1, 1920 in Enid to Guy and Millie Shields Burnett and passed away Thursday, July 29, 2004.

Dortha graduated from area schools and was a graduate of Enid Business College.

On December 31, 1945 she married R. D. Gainey in Wellington, Kansas. The couple made their home in Enid.

She worked as a secretary for Bob Barnes Sr and Jr in their insurance offices and later Lee Parrish Insurance.

Mrs Gainey was a member of Saint Matthews Episcopal Church, Ruth Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and Delta Child Club. She was a past President of National Women's Insurance Association.

Grandma Dot is survived by her son, Philip and his wife, Bonnie of Enid; two grandsons, Patrick and his wife Julie of San Angelo, Texas, and Christopher of Enid.

She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Philip Brian Gainey
January 22, 1947 ~ January 28, 2024


The funeral for Philip B. Gainey, 77-year-old Enid resident, is 12:00 noon on Monday, February 5, 2024, in Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church, under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. The Rev Doctor John Toles is officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.

Philip was born January 22, 1947, in Enid to R. D. and Dortha [Burnett] Gainey and died Sunday, January 28, 2024, in Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa.

He attended local schools and graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1965. He then attended Northwestern University.

He enlisted in the US Naval reserves and then went into active duty.

While home from boot camp, he married Bonnie Kliewer in Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church on December 21, 1967.

Soon after the wedding, he was deployed to Vietnam. Back stateside, the couple lived in Yukon for a time, and Philip reenlisted.

The couple moved back to Enid in 1995. He then continued his education at Phillips University, where he obtained his Master's and graduated with the final class of that institution.

He worked at Vance Air Force Base in the IT department.

Philip was a long-time member of Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Lodge 80 and 501, member of the Eastern Star, and also the Shriners.

Philip started playing in bands when he was fourteen. He played all over Oklahoma and was a member of the house band at the Hilton on Northwest Highway in Oklahoma City. He played with countless local musicians.

In the Navy he started as a radioman but took an aptitude test and scored so highly they made him a linguist. He was fluent in Mandarin.

He enjoyed computers and watching Sci-Fi movies.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home; children, Patrick Gainey of Enid and Chris Gainey and wife Kristi of Salina, OK; four grandchildren, Shawn Michael and wife Dara, Kortney and husband Cody, Quint and wife Deena, and Tyler; three great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Silas, and Vash.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law Julie Gainey.

Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to the Shriner's Hospital.

The funeral service for Julie Lynn Gainey will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Saint Matthew’s Episcopal Church with Reverend Doctor John Toles and Reverend Janie Koch officiating. Burial will follow the service in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger~Hinson Funeral Home.

Julie was born October 26, 1971 in San Angelo, TX to Clarence N. and Virginia [Meacham] Smith and went to be with her Lord on April 7, 2019 in Enid.

She graduated from Central High School in San Angelo in 1990.

On April 12, 2002, she married Patrick Lewis Gainey in San Angelo, TX and later moved to Enid where the couple made their home.

Julie is survived by her husband, Patrick of Enid; mother, Virginia Garcia and husband, Philip of San Angelo, TX; brothers, Paul Smith; Mark Smith and wife, Brandi; Elgin Garcia and wife, Robyn; and Philip W. Garcia; brother-in-law, Chris Gainey and significant other, Kristi Ramsey; nieces and nephews, Savannah Eggemeyer; Casey Smith; Bradley Smith; Kodie Smith; Easton Bishop Garcia; Shawn James; Kortney James; Quint Ramsey; and Tyler Ramsey; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her Father and grandparents.

Julie’s family would especially like to thank her close friends for their expressions of love and sympathy. Also they would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Hospital, Fresenius Kidney Care of Enid, Valir Hospice and all of her caregivers, for their kind and gentle care throughout her illness.

Memorials may be made to OMRF [Liver & Kidney] Division or Enid SPCA with the Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
