Memorial service for Leon Gage, 100, of Enid, Okla., will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at Willow View United Methodist church, with the Rev. Tom Carruthers and Lesly Broadbent officiating.

A private burial will precede the service at Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Service is under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Leon was born Nov. 1, 1914, to Austin and Minnie Gage in Douglas, Okla., and passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at his home in Enid.

He graduated from Enid High School in 1932, and from Enid Business College in 1936.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Philippine Island Campaign during WWII.

He and Avis Estill were married in 1937.

He was the owner/operator of Gage Mobil Service Station in Enid from 1952 until his retirement in 1977.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting and golfing. He made a hole-in-one at age 81.

He was a member of Willow View United Methodist Church, Enid, and was member of the American Legion since 1946.

He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Avis Estill Gage of Enid; his daughter, Barbara Horn and husband David of Shreveport, La.; sons, Ed Gage and wife Elaine of Muskogee, Okla., and Jim Gage of Carnegie, Okla.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willow View United Methodist Church, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.

The service celebrating the life of Avis (Estill) Gage, 99, of Enid, Okla., will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Willow View United Methodist Church, with Pastor Lesly Broadbent officiating. Graveside service for the family will be held prior to the memorial service at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Avis (Estill) Gage was born March 23, 1916, to William and Susie (Hoar) Estill of Carrier, Okla.

She graduated from Carrier High School and went on to graduate from Enid Business College.

She married Leon Leslie Gage in 1937, and they made their home in Enid. She worked as a bookkeeper for law firms and several businesses. She was church treasurer for several years and she participated in volunteer work with Meals on Wheels. She loved to cook and travel. She also loved to help others. She was always a very involved and loving mother.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara and husband David Horn of Shreveport, La.; sons, Ed and wife Elaine Gage of Muskogee, and Jim Gage of Carnegie, Okla.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Bill and wife Mary Estill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 77 years.

Memorials may be made to Willow View United Methodist Church, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
