Susan Gentry
December 28, 1964 - November 30, 2023

Funeral services for Susan Gentry, age 58, will be held Monday, December 4th, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Oklahoma City, with the Rev. Christi officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, Oklahoma, under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home. Susan was born December 28, 1964, in Enid, Oklahoma, to LaVerne and Helen (Krey) Wyssmann and passed away November 30, 2023, in Oklahoma City.

She graduated in 1983 from Pioneer-Pleasant Vale High School in Waukomis, Oklahoma, where she played basketball and softball and participated in the band. She received a B.S. in Accounting from Oklahoma State University and later earned her CPA accreditation. She was an avid reader her entire life and always had a book or an e-book handy.

She met her future husband, Jay Gentry, playing softball, and they married on June 1, 1990, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Enid, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two daughters, Christi and Nicole.

Susan started working for the Internal Revenue Service in Enid part-time while still a sophomore in college, driving between Enid and Stillwater to attend classes. After graduation, she transferred to the Oklahoma City office, where she had a long and successful career. At the time of her retirement, due to illness in 2019, she had become a Territory Manager for the Examination Division.

She was also an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City, where she served many years as Treasurer and was honored by the congregation in recognition of her many contributions of time and energy over the years.

Susan is survived by her two daughters, Christi and Nicole; mother, Helen Wyssmann; brother, Gary Wyssmann; sister, Sharon Edwards and Sharon's husband David; along with a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, LaVerne Wyssmann. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the MSA Coalition.
