Michael "Scott" GEHRING

Memorial Park Cemetery

November 24, 1978 - November 24, 2021

Funeral services for Michael "Scott" Gehring, 43, of Enid, will be Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Scott was born on November 24, 1978, in Webster, Texas, to Edward Michael and Nina Jean (Kinkead) Gehring and passed away on November 24, 2021, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

He grew up in Seabrook, Texas, and in 1993, during his teenage years, moved to Enid. He was a cook for many restaurants in Enid, and later he began working in construction and at Mead Lumber Yard in Ada, Oklahoma. Scott went to Rose State College and was working on his final degree at Rio Salado College in psychology, specializing in drug addiction and substance abuse. His desire was to counsel those in need and struggling with addiction.

Scott was very proud of his Osage Heritage educating himself in their culture, language and beliefs.

Scott had become a devout Christian committing himself to the Lord and his word. He reached out to others in need to find spirituality and hope in their lives.

He loved fishing and was an avid "Star Wars" fan. Scott's creativity was revealed in the Native American jewelry he made and his original artwork. He had a good sense of humor, a loving heart, and never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, uncle LeRoy, grandparents and two cousins.

He is survived by his children, Mayson Ward Gehring of Midwest City, OK, and Alexis Gehring of Enid; mother, Nina Jean Hanson and husband Don Hanson of Enid; sisters, Donna Gehring of Enid and Sandra Gehring of Houston, Texas; other relatives and friends.
