Leota Alice "Odie" [Cherry] Frantz
February 27, 1922 ~ September 12, 2020

The private family graveside service honoring and celebrating the life of Leota "Odie" Frantz, 98, of Enid will be held in the Memorial Park Cemetery of Enid with Ken Mendenhall officiating. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Leota Alice Cherry Frantz "Odie" was the 3rd daughter born to Sidwell Louis Cherry and Clara Shepherd Cherry in Okemah, Oklahoma on February 27, 1922. She peacefully died on September 12, 2020.

When Odie was only one year old, Clara moved her girls to Shawnee, Oklahoma, after the death of her husband.

The three beautiful Cherry girls left their mark on that town! Odie was a vivacious Theta at OU. She said she made the best decision of her life when she said "yes" to the quiet, reserved, but humorous Bob Frantz from Enid. They married on January 16, 1943 in Dallas, Texas while Bob was serving in the army. After the war they made their home in Enid to raise their 3 children.

Odie was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Chapter Q of PEO.

In her earlier years she was busy in Junior Welfare League, Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Chapter, serving the hospital as a Cherry Red Lady, teaching Sunday School, and a founding member of the Big Band Dance Club.

She was forever supporting her children in sports, Camp Fire Girls and Scouting. In her neighborhood on Osage she was known to generations of children as "The Cookie Lady."

It is an understatement to say she had a passion for dancing and bridge!

Her eternal legacy was a prayer group of her closest friends who met weekly to pray for families and friends through all the ups and downs of life.

Odie is being greeted in heaven by the love of her life, Bob, her parents, her in-laws, her two older sisters, Margie Watson and Retha Miloe Vincent, her grandson, Blake Riley, and thousands of family and friends.

Those sending her on her way are her children, Doug and Dianne Frantz of Enid, Kurt and Ivana Frantz of Haskell, and Robin and James Riley of Edmond, Gram's grandchildren: Kyle and Dannette Frantz, Brett and Gaylyn Frantz, Monika and Corey MacIntyre, Marcie and Tim Bazor, Hallie and Chad Caldwell, Andrea and Luca Little, and Daniel Frantz, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

The family is so grateful for the three years of love and tender care Odie received from the staff at The Arbors, from Hospice Circle of Love for the last few weeks and from her church family and friends her entire life.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love, Jim Riley Outreach, Samaritan's Purse or Westminster Presbyterian Church with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.

Condolences and special memories may be shared with the family online at WWW.Brown-Cummings.com

Mary Lee [Winters] Frantz
April 13, 1922 ~ August 22, 2019

The Funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of Mary L. Frantz, 97, formerly of Enid, will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 2, 2019, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel, with Trip Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am Monday, September 2, 2019, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Mary Lee made her entrance into this world, April 13, 1922, the second daughter of Constance Salter Winters and Roy Lee Winters, Oklahoma City, OK. She loved music and had a song on her lips when she exited this world with grace on a late summer afternoon.

Mary grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Classen High School, where she was a Merry Maid, graduating in 1940. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she majored in music and joined Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Mary was selected the Engineer Queen her sophomore year at the University as well as the Saint Patrick's Queen.

It was also at OU that Mary was charmed by the irresistible laughter of Harry P. Frantz, Jr from Enid, Oklahoma. Harry and Mary were married June 9, 1942, and moved together to Cape Cod, where Harry attended basic training at Camp Edwards.

On April 2, 1943, Harry shipped off to fight in WWII, and Mary returned to Oklahoma City and worked at Tinker Air Force Base using her artistic talent to create military equipment drawings for training manuals. The two were reunited at the end of the war and made their home in Enid, Oklahoma.

While busy raising five children, Mary also found time to serve on the Enid Junior Welfare League, PTA and was a lifelong member of PEO [she would never tell us what that meant].

She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Enid, and loved singing in the choir.

Mary also sold real estate and was a Doncaster Clothing Consultant in the 1970s.

Mary was an ardent OU fan, especially about Women's basketball. Regardless of reality, as far is she was concerned, those ladies were always #1 in the nation.

Mary lived in Enid until the mid-1990's, moving to Tulsa, OK, 10 years after her husband, Harry, passed away.

Mary's favorite pastimes were painting, singing, spending time with her family and traveling.

She spent many summer vacations at the beloved family cabin in Cascade, Colorado, where she was really more or less a cook for the hoard of family and friends, and still she considered it fun.

She visited Europe a number of times and ventured as far as Hong Kong and Singapore.

An amateur artist excelling in watercolor, oil and pastels, Mary enjoyed visiting museums at home and abroad, finding inspiration for her own creations.

Mary made many friends throughout the decades and kept in lifelong touch with pals from high school, college, Enid and Tulsa.

She loved her Inverness Village community where she spent the last 16 years of her life and had scores of friends from residents to caregivers.

Her family is very grateful for this community and the love, support and attention she received from the Inverness staff as well as the dear staff at Rose Rock Hospice.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Constance and Roy Winters of Oklahoma City; her sister, Virginia Winters Potter of Oklahoma City; her husband, Harry P. Frantz, Jr, of Enid; and her son-in-law, Jeffery L. Romine of Tulsa.

She is survived by her daughter Connie Hesler and husband, Bill, of Mission Hills, KS; son, Steve Frantz and wife Cathy Frantz of Davis, OK; Daughter Judy Moore and husband Trip, of Quebec City, Canada; daughter Jane Romine of Prairie Village, KS; and daughter Carol Wagner and husband, Adam, of Austin, Texas. Grandchildren and great grandchildren were aplenty so here goes: Grandchildren, Carrie Hesler White, Sarah Hesler Waters, Marisa Frantz, Ben Frantz, Annie Moore, Jessica Moore, Rachael Moore, Andrew Romine, Megan Romine Royce and Lucy Wagner; Great grandchildren, Asia Frantz, Finn Zaug, Everett White, Maren White, Avery Waters, William Waters, Nicolas Milliard, Malahika Veilleux, Koralie Veilleux, Amandine Veilleux, Leila Martin, Juliette Martin, Charlotte Martin, Parker Romine and Parker's little sister expected in September.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Rose Rock Hospice, Tulsa, OK, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home, Enid, serving as custodian of the funds.

Condolences to the family may be made online at WWW.Brown-Cummings.com

Michael Duane Frantz
September 27, 1954 ~ November 21, 2019

Michael Duane Frantz left this world, and the family he loved so much on Thursday, November 21, 2019. His departure was unexpected and leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled.

Mike was born to William and Rebecca Frantz on September 27, 1954, in Oklahoma City.

After attending Pleasant Hill Elementary School in Oklahoma City, he graduated from Edmond High School in 1972.

Mike exhibited his lifelong attention to detail and responsibility by working to support his family during his father's illness while just a high school student. This sense of responsibility never wavered, as he was never without a job.

After graduation he worked for a number of companies, but his best decision was accepting a job with Dolese Brothers as a truck driver. This culminated in a 43-year career in purchasing with the company. Mike respected and appreciated Dolese throughout his many years there. His loyalty, which was never really fully appreciated or understood, continued until the end when he retired in April 2019. He was always ready with a story about the company or another employee and he made many cherished friends there.

Mike Frantz was a practical man, who always loved practical things.

Mike's proudest accomplishments are his two sons. He was involved with their baseball careers from the time they were 5 years old and through college.

He coached little league teams and was the manager of the baseball concession stand during their high school years. He was thrilled that his granddaughter Lily had just recently started playing softball, and he was looking forward to helping train and coach during her upcoming season.

Mike was raised in the Pentecostal faith and continued his strong belief in Jesus Christ throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rebecca Frantz; his granddaughter, Natatlie Frantz; his sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Rod Turpin; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Max and Georgia Brown; and his brother-in-law, Dr Blair Cunnyngham.

Mike is survived by Deb, his wife of almost 44 years; his cherished sons, Travis and Brandon; their wives he loved so much, Shelly Frantz and Chelsea Frantz; his two beautiful granddaughters, Lily Frantz and Adelyn Frantz; his brother, Roger Frantz; his sister-in-law, Maxine Cunnyngham; his sister and brother-in-law; Katy and Dan Powell; his nephew and wife, Dr Chris and Audrey Cunnyngham; his nephew. Brian Clark; and his very special niece and nephew, Savannah and Jack Cunnyngham.

Despite his vocal protestations, Mike really was an avid animal lover. Honest, he really was!

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to OK Save a Dog Society, 990214 South 3580 Road, Prague, OK 74864, from whence he rescued his much loved "Buddy."

Services was held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
