© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma February 10, 2017 January 3, 1932 ~ February 8, 201 The funeral service for Joe Forbes, 85, Enid, is 2 pm Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 5-6:30 pm today, February 10, 2017, at the funeral home. Joe was born January 3, 1932, to John Henry and Beulah Ann [Rains] Forbes in Buffalo, and passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, in Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Joe graduated from Buffalo High School in 1952, and served in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956, thirteen months in Korea. Joe married Avis J. Fleming January 12, 1954, at the First Christian Church in Buffalo. Upon leaving the Air Force in 1956, Joe entered college at Oklahoma A & M [now OSU]. He attended Panhandle Oklahoma State University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Education from OSU in 1960. He taught Ag at Clopton High School, Clarksville, Mo. Joe also worked in finance for the Missouri Extension and USDA. After receiving his masters, he joined PCA and the First National Bank of Enid. Joe retired as Garfield County Assessor in 1997. Joe volunteered at Loaves and Fishes, and was a member of Kremlin Methodist Church. He was very active in the Kremlin Lions Club and Enid Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. He is survived by his wife Avis of the home; two daughters Leah [Gary] Cunningham of Ringwood, and Jody [Roger] Boevers of Mustang; six grandchildren: Clayton Cunningham and Kassidy of Ringwood, Brent Boevers, Luke Boevers both of Mustang, Kristen Rosenkranz and Brent of Hydro, Brian Cunningham and Jodi of Lovington, and Keri Arreola and Armando all of Lovington, N.M.; Tucker Joe and Talon Mark Cunningham of Ringwood, Reagan and Jace Rosenkranz of Hydro, Taylor and Alyssa Arreola and son Levi, Niki Arreola, and Tres Arreola, Kylee Cunningham, Kamryn Cunningham, and Kendyl Cunningham all of Lovington, N.M.; 2 sisters Jerrie Finfrock of Tucson, Ariz., and Johnnie Olson of Freedom; and brother Bobby Forbes of Freedom. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents W. P. and Pearl [Redman] Rains, sister Billie Province, and brother Thomas Forbes. © Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma April 2, 2023 December 25, 1933 ~ March 31, 2023 Avis was born December 25, 1933 in Buffalo, Oklahoma to Clifton and Evelyn [Smith] Fleming and died on March 31, 2023 in Enid, with her family by her side. She grew up in Buffalo and graduated from Buffalo High School. On January 12, 1954, Avis married Joe Forbes in the First Christian Church in Buffalo. Avis went to beauty college and was a licensed cosmetologist in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. She went to Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Avis was an administration secretary for Chisholm Schools. She was a member of Kremlin United Methodist Church, Kremlin Home Culture H.C.E., American Legion Auxiliary, Garfield County Republican Women and Garfield County Retired Educators. She was preceded in death by husband, Joe and her parents. She is survived by her daughters and husbands, Leah and Gary Cunningham and Jody and Roger Boevers; three grandsons and their wives, Brent and Callie Boevers, Clayton and Ashlee Cunningham, and Luke and Emily Boevers; great grandchildren, Tucker, Talon and Taytum; other relatives and many friends. |

© Enid News and Eagle Enid, Oklahoma February 20, 2020 November 10, 1938 ~ February 17, 2020 The Funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of Carlene Forbes, 81, of Enid will be held at 02:00 PM Friday February 21, 2020 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. She was born on November 10, 1938 to Carl and Iris Pearl Felkner Forbes in Sentinel, Oklahoma and passed from this life on February 17, 2020 in Jones, Oklahoma. She attended school in Thomas, Oklahoma where she graduated from Thomas High School. She then moved with her family to Enid, OK. at the age of nineteen. She worked as a nurse's aid at St Mary's before beginning work at the Enid State School. On October 08, 2001 she married William “Bill” Mader in the Elco County Courthouse. She always enjoyed every friend she met while attending the Trinity Baptist Church. She loved to work and raise her garden, a skill she learned from her mother. She enjoyed fishing, and many adventurous vacations she took. She loved to dance, that how she met her husband Bill. She had a true love for all animals, and always had cats and dogs. Most of all she loved her family. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Conley, son, Timothy Mize, granddaughter, Jamie Cook, great-granddaughter, Willow Grace McGee brother, Bill Forbes, sisters, Louise Gibson, Pat Forbes McCaugh, and Susan Forbes, and nieces and nephew, Angela, Savanna, Roland, and Leiah. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Curtis McCaugh, and her infant son, Joey Isom. Memorials in her name may be made to the Oklahoma Heart Foundation with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds. |
