The funeral for Julius Friedrick Johann Evers, 102, of Garber, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Breckinridge. The Rev. Arthur McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid. Arrange-ments are by Dugger Funeral Home, Garber.

He was born July 27, 1902, on a farm north of Cropper, to John William and Dorothea Stach Evers and died Saturday, July 9, 2005, in Enid.

He attended Lutheran Parochial School, Breckinridge and Union elementary schools and graduated from Hunter High School in 1924. He married Belva Bacon in 1924. He was manager of the elevators at Ellis and Breckinridge. He farmed and ranched most of his life in the Breckinridge area. He served as a Minute Man traveling to sell U.S. war bonds in World War II. He was active in Red Cross drives and also served on Garfield County Election Board. He was an active supporter of FFA activities and was named Honorary Chapter Farmer twice by Garber FFA. He was named outstanding citizen by Garber Chamber of Commerce. He also solicited funds for perpetual care at Breckinridge Lutheran Cemetery. He gave drug abuse programs to area schools to achieve funding through AAL for Breckinridge Community Cen-ter.

After his wife's death in 1964, he married Frieda Schultz in 1966. He was Santa Claus on Main Street and the nursing home in Garber for 10 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Beatrice Green and Donita Southwick, both of Garber; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both wives, three sons, one daughter, four brothers, four sisters, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
