The funeral for Ethel Maude Evers, 82, 811 N. 18th, will be at 2 PM Thursday in Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. William Be Oden, senior minister of First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Evers died Sunday in a local hospital after a short illness. She was born May 10, 1902, in Sac City, Iowa, to Henry L. And Adeline Peyton. In 1908, the family moved to Kennebec, South Dakota, where she lived on a farm and attended schools in that area. After graduation, she worked in Kennebec as a telephone operator. She later worked at the Post Office. On November 27, 1924, she and Cecil Floyd Evers were married at Kennebec. He died September 27, 1984.

Mrs. Evers was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Presho, South Dakota.

Survivors include two sons, Clifford L. Evers, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Robert L. Evers, Sturgis, South Dakota; one daughter, Mrs. James (Lorraine) Kvasnicka, Enid; nine grandchildren; and 16 great – grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Cecil, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a twin sister.
