Funeral for James C. Evans, 61, 1708 N. Kennedy, who died early Thursday in a local hospital, will be at 2 PM Saturday in the Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Burnham officiating.

Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home. The family has suggested that those who wish make Memorial contributions to the Great Plains Baptist Church with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.

Evans was born January 12, 1922, at Okeene but had lived in Enid most of his life. He was a veteran of World War I I, having served in the United States Navy.

He was employed by Oklahoma Gas and Electric for 35 years, where he was relay forman in communications until ill health forced his retirement.

Evans was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 501. He was also a member of the Shrine, the Eastern Star Neal Chapter and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Evans served as trustee of the board of the Great Plains Baptist Church.

Evans and Wilma Day were married April 28, 1961, and she survives him. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Janice) Rush, Oklahoma City; two sons, Scotty Dean and James W. Evans, both of Oklahoma City; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jack (Donna) Hutcheson, Enid; two stepsons, John C. Day and Billie Day, both of Enid, and 10 grandchildren.
