Funeral service for Marjorie E. “Betty” Ernst, 78, Enid, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, with the Rev. Gail Edmison officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service. Visitation with the family present is 5:30-7 p.m. today, June 26, at Stittsworth’s.

Betty was born June 16, 1937, in Enid, Okla., the daughter of Jesse M. and Marjorie F. Richardson Langford and passed away peacefully on June 24, 2015.

She was raised and educated in Enid, graduating from Enid High School with the class of 1954.

Betty married Lieutenant William Ernst in 1955. To this union, two sons, Tim and Steven were born. They traveled all over the United States.

Betty returned to Enid in 1965, where she worked as a switchboard operator at St. Mary’s Hospital. She worked several years at Midwestern Life Insurance and in February 1973, Betty served the city of Enid for over 25 years, working under many city managers as executive secretary. Betty worked evenings for over 12 years at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home as a receptionist.

Survivors include sons, Tim Ernst of Edmond and Steven Ernst of Papillion, Neb., five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in passing by her parents and companion, Vince Houska.
