James J. "Jim" Elrod
May 6, 1933 ~ October 6, 2006


Funeral services for James "Jim" Elrod, 73 of Enid, will be held Monday, October 9, 2006 at 2:00 pm in the Enid First Assembly of God Church with the Rev Dan Barrick and Rev Ron McCaslin officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Jim was born on May 6, 1933 in Lawton, Oklahoma to James and Nellie [Thomas] Elrod, and went on to be with his Lord and Savior on October 5, 2006 in Enid.

On April 9 1956 he married the love of his life, Delores Winter, at Meeker, Oklahoma. He worked for Sears and Roebuck as an appliance tech for 13 years prior to opening his own business, Jim's Appliance Service. He operated his business for 40 years until retiring in 2002. Jim was a long time member of the former Enid C.B. Radio Club, which worked along with Garfield County Civil Defense during severe weather events. Through this organization, he was instrumental in the installation of tornado warning sirens.

His Father, and Mother, 5 brothers, and a sister preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife Delores of the home; 2 sons and their wives, Steve and Joyce Elrod, and Dennis and JoEllyn Elrod, both of Enid; a daughter and her husband Lisa and Gary Mathews, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; and a brother Charles Elrod of Winfield, Kansas.

Memorial maybe made through the funeral home to OMRF Alzheimer Division.
