OBITUARY

The funeral service for Franklin Elliott, 89, will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Al McVety will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Franklin was born Aug. 10, 1917, in San Antonio, Texas to James Nathan and Louise (Ford) Elliott and died, March 4, 2007, in Enid.

He was raised in San Antonio and graduated from high school in 1935. In 1942 he entered the United States Navy where he served as a code interceptor in Naval Intelligence and discharged in 1946. On March 24, 1951 he married Jennie Mugg. She died Nov. 3, 2006.

He worked as a purchaser for Continental Tank Company of Oklahoma City. In the late 1950s he became a Contracting Officer and Negotiator for the government at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring in 1979 after 20 years of service. He moved to Colorado where he spent the majority of his retirement years in Buena Vista, Colo. He moved to Enid in 1999. He was a member of the Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Smith of Enid; one son, Kent Elliott and his wife Sherry of Temple, Texas; grandchildren, Holly Lyon and husband Jon of Dallas, Texas, Jay Smith of Austin, Texas, Jenny Smith of Enid, Katie Smith of Enid, Emily Golden and husband Chris of Temple, Texas, Phillip Elliott of Temple, Texas, and Amy Elliott of Temple, Texas; one sister, Genevieve Hildebrand of Oklahoma City; two nephews, Carlton Hildebrand and Paul Hildebrand and his wife Susan.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jennie, and son-in-law Dan Smith, who died Jan. 20, 2007.
