OBITUARY
Funeral service for Neal C. Ediger, 86, of Hillsdale, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Wade Burleson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Neal C. “Shiner” Ediger was born Feb. 24, 1924, in Collinsville, Okla., to Henry A. Ediger and Katherina Toews Ediger. He moved with his family to Kremlin in 1928, where he grew up and attended Kremlin schools. He attended Phillips University, where he met Alma Dee Messenger of Hillsdale. They married Aug. 15, 1948, and farmed in Kremlin, Hillsdale and Ringwood. They moved to the Messenger farm, north of Hillsdale in 1975, where he farmed until his retirement in 2001. He remained on the farm with his dog, Buddy, until shortly before his death on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010.


He is survived by his sister, Adina Schmidt of Fresno, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife Alma Dee, five brothers and two sisters. His children are Curtis and Bev Ediger of Enid, Dee Ann and Ken Hollrah of Fairmont, Sharon and Steve Wagner of Enid, Kathryn and Wallace Walcher of Edmond, and Carolyn and Rodney Redman of Vinita. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren are Joe and Emily Ediger of Enid, Jared and Angie Ediger, Dalton and Jack of Yukon, Kyle and Candice Wagner of Piedmont, Adrian and Skaidrys de Sa Pereira, Nia and Carys of Lowell, Ark., Jonathan and Anna Walcher and Edison of Oklahoma City, Daniel and Ramsey Walcher of Edmond, Katy Walcher of Oklahoma City, Bonnie Walcher and Samuel Walcher of Edmond, Kale and Tasha Pierce, Preston Chase and Payton of Goltry, Ryan Pierce, Jordan and Jayden of Enid, Cassie and Andy Herringshaw of Moro Moro, Bolivia, Whitney and Chet Cotton, Stephan and Kayla of Carmen.
