Eck, age 93, will be 10:00 am Thursday, November 17, 2005, at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev Garvie Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, OK. with arrangements by Anderson Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. She was born to Dave and Susie "Becker" Penner on February 5, 1912, in Goltry, OK. and died on Sunday, November 13, 2005, in Enid, OK. She grew up in Goltry, attending schools there. On September 20, 1931, she married Roy Eck in Goltry, and they made their home in Goltry. She was a good Christian woman and a homemaker. She raised five sons, a daughter, and two granddaughters. Gustena loved to cook and baked the best cherry pies in the world. She loved her garden and always had a vegetable garden and lots of flowers. She loved her red geraniums on her front porch. Gustena worked at Bass Baptist Hospital for several years as a cook and everyone called her Tena. She was a hard worker and was always taking care of everyone at family dinners and herself last. She was a member of the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church. She is survived by five sons, Eugene Eck and wife Anesha of Enid, OK., Edwin Eck and wife Shirley of Enid, OK., Richard Eck and wife Myrna of Enid, OK., Eldon Eck and wife Lavon of Enid, OK., and David Eck and wife Kathy of Enid, OK.; one daughter Linda Neufeld and husband Victor of Abbotsford, British Columbia Canada; one sister Nora Smith of Helena, OK.; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; and one infant son. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Enid Mennonite Brethren Church Endowment Fund. |

© Anderson~Burris Funeral Home Enid, Oklahoma September 2012 August 21, 1924 ~ September 23, 2012 ENID, Okla. - Angels rejoiced and mortals wept as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Lillian Evelyn Eck, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the age of 88. Born to Alsia and Bessie Sorrell on August 21, 1924, in Myrtle, Mo., Lillian was the oldest of six children. After graduating from Couch High School in 1942, she went to work for Uncle John and Aunt Ella Crass as a telephone operator. Then in August 1944, she moved to Saint Louis and worked at mending wire for General Cable Corporation until July 1945, returning to Mrytle. The Lord was dealing with her heart, and she answered the call. Then the Lord blessed her to meet a wonderful young man, Edwin Eck, who became her loving companion on March 28, 1948. They enjoyed their 57 years of life together. Lillian was a devoted wife and loved him unfailingly throughout their marriage. To their union, four children were born, each being welcomed with open arms. Her home often had the wonderful aroma of fresh baked bread, cinnamon rolls, pies or cookies. Her summers were busy cooking for harvest hands and canning food that came from her garden. She sewed dresses for the girls and suits for the boys, and enjoyed making quilts for her children and grandchildren. She has shown us what it means to stand by someone's side in sickness and health with compassionate endearing love. She has been and remains our guiding light, our beacon of hope and faith amidst the darkness. We feel blessed to have had her in our lives. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; parents, Alsia and Bessie Sorrell; stepmother, Dollie Gentry Sorrell; sister, Dora Lela Beisly; two brothers, Lehman Earl and Thurman Sorrell; and stepsister, Hassie Palmer. She is survived by four children, Elois Spinks and husband Mark of Jefferson, Ore., Neta Murphey and husband Willie of Guthrie, Darrell Eck and companion Carol of Goltry, and Merrill Eck and companion Pam of Beatty, Ore.; eight grandchildren, Coquetta and husband Joel Erickson, Stephen and wife Monica Murphey, Abilgail and husband Jonathan Danielsen, Elizabeth Murphey, Kysha, Slater and Kean Eck, and Christopher Eck; four great grandchildren, AutumnGrace, Lillian, Judith and Andre; two brothers, Clifford and wife Gertrude Sorrell, and Fred and wife Merry Sorrell; two sisters-in-law, Edna Sorrell and Carol Sorrell; stepsister, Eula Sherill; and two stepbrothers, Troy Gentry and Eddie Gentry. Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2012, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation with family will be 6-7:30 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Church of God or Faith Publishing House. |

Eck, age 85 of Enid will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in the Henninger~Hinson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Effie was born May 19, 1930 to Ed and Cora [Shrader] Haley in Ringwood, OK and passed away April 15, 2016. She graduated from Ringwood High School. On July 30, 1950 she married Lindy Eck and the couple enjoyed sixty-eight years of marriage. They have three children, Linda Shanklin, deceased; Brenda Eck; Kevin and his wife, Sonja Eck all of Enid. Effie was blessed with six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church of Enid. After retiring from work as a medical-aide for 20 years from NORCE, she continued working privately as a care provider for twelve more years. Effie loved her family, and her special pet, Tommy. She especially enjoyed watching birds that lived in the beautiful purple martin bird house that her loving husband, Lindy made her. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or The Cat Clinic of Enid with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds. |

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. She was born on March 05, 1936 to Prentice and Dorothy Streck Leslie in Enid, Oklahoma and passed from this life on November 05, 2019 in Enid, Oklahoma. She was raised and educated in Enid, graduating from Enid High School in 1954. She then attended John Brown University. She then returned to Enid and worked in banking and then as a receptionist in a Doctor's office. On June 06, 1960 she married Edwin Eck in the Grace Mennonite Church of Enid. She then spent the next twenty-three years with the Enid Public School system serving as a Teacher's Aide. She worked as a teacher's aide at the Cherokee Park School for eighteen years. She then transferred to the Enid Public Schools where she retired after five years. She enjoyed sewing and the beauty of flowers, but most of all she loved her family. She is survived by her husband, Edwin Eck, of Enid, sons, Leslie Eck, of Keller, Texas, and Kenny Eck, of Ponca City, OK., grandchildren, Joseph Eck, Justin Eck, and Haley Eck, five great grandchildren, and sisters Linda Hayes and Sandy Schrock. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Robert Leslie. |

Eck age 76 of Enid will be 11:00 am Saturday at Central Christian Church with Rev Tom Stanley and Rev Don Johnson officiating. A Private family burial will be held before the service in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will have a reception following the service in the fellowship hall. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. David was born March 14, 1943, in Goltry, OK to Roy and Gustena [Penner] Eck and passed away at his home on December 17, 2019. He moved to Enid in 1954 and graduated from Enid High School in 1961. He married Kathy Young on December 22, 1964, in Memphis, TN. David worked for Champlin Petroleum for 18 years, owned the WeeToo Restaurant for 5 years and went to work for Northcutt Chevrolet and retired after 28 years as Vice President and General Manager. He was a member of Central Christian Church where he served as treasurer and chaired several committees. He was a member of the Enid Corvette Club and the Antique Car Club. David enjoyed singing in the Barbershop Chorus and several different Quartets and the choir at church. He is survived by his wife Kathy, children; David Eck II and wife Liz of Marietta, GA, Brian Eck and wife Traci of Woodstock, GA, Mark Eck and wife Kelsey of San Antonio, TX, and Deborah Eck of Stillwater, six grandchildren; Camden, Owen, Brandon, Jordan, Brooks, and Reagan, brothers; Eugene Eck and wife Anisha , Edwin Eck, Eldon Eck and wife Lavon and Richard Eck and wife, Myrna and a sister Linda Neufeld Esau and husband Henry, Canada, a special friend, Hannah Pershing Coit and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Victor Neufeld, and sister-in-law Shirley Eck. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
